Race 6 – Woodlands Stud Caduceus Club 2yo Fillies Classic (Group 1) MS – 2200m

The Caduceus Club is for the 2yo fillies and some handy ones line up here. LADY CHATTO went West to Australia for the Gold Crown and killed them in her heat win then was mentally defeated when My Sweetchilliphilly sat outside it and brained them. She then went to Menangle where she did everything wrong, breaking and running into the infield. There must be a question mark on her after that. ELLE MAC has won 2/2 in the North Island, both times starting favourite. Can’t do much more than win but this looks another step up. A LISTER is another All-Star runner who has been in the top-4 at all three starts. Can surprise here. BETTOR JOY might be the one here having started favourite at all three starts for a win, a second and a last (forget she went around last time). Not drawn to badly here from Gate 2 on the back row. The two drawn the inside are place chances with CAITLYN CLARKE and GOLD ORCHIDDE LANCOME is another who will follow the pegs and must be thrown into the multiples.

Race 7 – Waste Management 2017 Taylor Mile (Group 1) – MS 1700m

A small field for the Group 1 where LAZARUS will dominate and rightly so. The winner now of 25/30, he just keeps on keeping on. Won his last two in NZ since coming back from Australia where he ran third in the Miracle Mile. The two victories here were in the Group 2 Superstars Championship and the Group 3 Roxburgh FFA. Has been doing just what he has to, to win and that will be the case again here. Stablemates WAIKIKI BEACH and GOLDEN GODDESS look the obvious trifecta chances here. WAIKIKI BEACH really came of age in Australia where he ran fourth (arguably should’ve won) in the Miracle Mile. Has ran fourth to The Orange Agent and second to Lazarus since. GOLDEN GODDESS found The Orange Agent and co too good when seventh upon resumption, then atoned with an easy win last time down in grade. The other three simply cannot win

Race 8 – HR Fisken & Sons 2017 Anzac Cup (Group 1) – MS 2200m

We might have had a shortie in the last race but this is as open as you’ll get. LEMOND was very good last week and has drawn beautifully for this having started favourite against most of these in two runs before that victory. EYRE I COMEcontinues to run good races at good odds; a winner of the Group 1 NZ Trotting Championship last week there is no reason he can’t repeat the effort here. HABIBTI IVY is a super smart mare who has won 7/14 including four in a row this prep. Up against the big boys here but she just keeps on winning. PRIME POWER was favourite against Lemond last time when fourth from a bad gate. Better drawn here, he has the ability to win.

TEMPORALE has won one and placed twice since an Australian campaign, probably not in the top picks but can definitely run a race. DARYL BOKO has good speed and always around the mark in this type of race. GREAT THINGS HAPPENreally took off in Australia and won his last two there after a victory in the Warragul Cup. If he can bring his Aussie form with him he can really step up to the mark in NZ. WILMAS MATE is the one with the most talent having looked to be home last week when bloused late by EYRE I COME. SUNNY RUBY also did good things in Australia winning three Group 1’s however has the visitors draw.
