GRAFTON | NSW GREYHOUND TIPS | SUNDAY 19 JUNE 2022

BEST BACK OF THE NIGHT: Race 11 | #2 Commands Respect for 3 units win at $2

Dog with a big motor who maps to have a good run through underneath two good beginners who are drawn outside of him and like to stay wide.

BEST LAY OF THE NIGHT: Race 4 | #1 Kapow for 2 units at <$3

If we continually lay dogs that are favourite having their first run at Grafton, especially in fields against experienced locals, we will finish well in front in the overall game. Kapow (1) fits that bill tonight. She is a smart dog, however is very short for her first start here and happy to take her on.

TRACK/MEETING OVERVIEW

This meeting is highlighted by race 7, The Thunderbolt, which is the first ever running of the $75k to the winner race considered the worlds richest short course race and a great lineup. The rest of the card has also attracted good quality races throughout the 12 race meeting.

RACE 1 | NSW GREYHOUND TIPS | KEY RUNNERS

5. Kiss Me Chaos
1. Ali’s Mate
2. Kilara Boy
8. Oh Rueben

Kiss Me Chaos (5) is a nicely bred bitch who is the litter sister of a recent fast, impressive winner at Gosford and if she has even close to the ability of her sister, she will be winning this only average maiden race.

Ali’s Mate (1) has been running ok. He is only a fair beginner and running around 20.60, will need to find a few lengths and begin better to be a genuine winning chance.

BETTING STRATEGY

BACK (WIN) – Kiss Me Chaos 2 units win at $2

RACE 2 | NSW GREYHOUND TIPS | KEY RUNNERS

2. Jimary Willow
3. Conair
4. Ranger Mick
7. Raw Honey

Jimary Willow (3) comes back to Grafton after a couple of very good runs at Albion Park and looks pitch forked into this race. She is hit and miss at the start, however, has great mid race speed and only needs an ounce of luck in this race to win this comfortably.

BETTING STRATEGY

BACK (WIN) – Jimary Wilow for 3 units at $2

RACE 3 | NSW GREYHOUND TIPSKEY RUNNERS

6. Sophie Zarr Wren
2. Darryl’s Girl
1. Who’s A Picture
3. Lady Charm

A lot will revolve around how well Sophie Zarr Wren (6) returns after three months off from racing. She is a talented bitch when given space and is a group 1 finalist at Wentworth Park in October last year. If she is 100% ready to go then she is the one to beat.

Darryl’s Girl (2) is learning with racing. Two starts ago she won here impressively in 25.39, however the inside draw is definitely of some concern here tonight and she will need some luck early to find space to charge home.

Who’s A Picture (1) has a great map with both above selections having question marks and usually don’t have a lot of pace early, so he will have every chance from the draw.

BETTING STRATEGY

No bet.

RACE 4 | NSW GREYHOUND TIPSKEY RUNNERS

8. Undivided
7. Dark Fate
2. Akaroa
1. Kapow

Really even 3/4th grade 350m race with a number of chances. I have the two outside drawn dogs in Undivided (8) & Dark fate (7) mapped to carve across and whichever of the two can get the early momentum will likely get away with this race.

Kapow (1) is a classy dog, however winning first up at Grafton as we continually see, especially against experience track dogs is never easy no matter what box or class you have. Happy to take her on first up here.

BETTING STRATEGY

LAY – Kapow for 2 units at <$3

RACE 5 | NSW GREYHOUND TIPSKEY RUNNERS

8. Little Zephyr
1. Pan’s Priority
7. Horace
6. Fire Legend

This $5k non graded 450m race has drawn together a very good line-up with a number of genuine chances.

Little Zephyr (8) comes back to Grafton where in her last start here she won the regional heat of the Million $$ Chase. She hasn’t fired around Albion park in some quality races and will no doubt relish the return back to Grafton. If she can show her best box manners, she can carve across and lead and it will take a big effort from any of these dogs to run her down.

Pan’s Priority (1) looks a talented young bitch, however this is a rise in class and I need to see her beat this level of opposition before I can take her on top. No doubting her talent and the perfect draw also suits.

Horace (7) and Fire Legend (6) are the proven class runners, just tough draws to overcome, especially with a fast beginner drawn on their outside.

BETTING STRATEGY

No bet.

RACE 6 | NSW GREYHOUND TIPS | KEY RUNNERS

3. Golden Zesta
4. Apache Don
6. Casual Glance
1. Quick As

Things don’t slow down as we hit a high quality 350m non graded race also worth $5k to the winner.

Golden Zesta (3) is the value runner for mine. She has great pace early and has beaten the favourite Apache Don on merits in a fast 19.79. If she can begin at her best and lead she will be very hard to get past.

Apache Don is 9/18 over this track and distance and was ultra-impressive winning the non-graded race last week in 19.85. He is undoubtedly one of the clear dangers and likely favourite, he just needs to begin at his best from the draw as this race is pack full of speed dogs.

BETTING STRATEGY

BACK (WIN) – Golden Zesta for 1 unit at $5

RACE 7 | NSW GREYHOUND TIPSKEY RUNNERS

1. Integrity Mate
2. Fast Liar
3. Typhoon Sammy
7. Orara Dan

What a great line-up for the first ever Thunderbolt Final, with $75k to the winner and over $100k in total prizemoney.

Integrity Mate (1) has won his last 5 straight and poses a strong record from the inside having won 3/3 from box 1 and 7/8 from box 2. He often takes a few strides to get really going, so the start will be important, however this week he does have two dogs to his outside that while can begin fast will generally stay off the fence, so he will have every chance to charge underneath.

Fast Liar (2) lid pinged last week and as with many of these dogs, when he is on early, he is on. If he begins similar to last week, he likely leads early and running the time he ran, will take a power of running down. If he doesn’t ping the lids then he may find it tough to push through.

Typhoon Sammy (3) is a class runner, with the Ballarat Cup to his name and is 2/2 since returning from Melbourne back to his home with trainer John Dart. He has been in these big races before and of he gets the start right and can avoid Fast Liar early, his class will see him right in this finish.

Orara Dan (7) is drawn on the wrong side of the track to where he likes, he will be charging home late and while he will need some major luck to win, he will be pushing hard for a placing late.

I have left our Orson Laurie (6) however he is the equal track record holder and he is either going to come out running and cross early and be a big chance or struggle from the draw as well as the reserve Runner Vamoose (9, box 4) who gains the run and ran a great race just behind Orara Dan & Typhoon Sammy last week and the experience on the track will no doubt help.…..just can’t pick them all in a quality race like this.

BETTING STRATEGY

BACK (WIN) – Integrity Mate for 2 units at $2.50+

RACE 8 | NSW GREYHOUND TIPSKEY RUNNERS

8. Back And Forth
1. Eye In Sky
5. Never Sweat
4. Candy Chaos

The scratching of Vamoose gaining a run in the Thunderbolt final throws this race wide open.

Back And Forth is drawn well and maps to burn down the outside, while our second pick likes that little space so will have to begin well as the 1 box has proven a challenge in the past with an 1/10 record from box 1 or 2.

BETTING STRATEGY

BACK (WIN) – Back And Forth for 1 unit at $3.50+

RACE 9 | NSW GREYHOUND TIPSKEY RUNNERS

7. Cobber Dude
5. Been Framed
1. Laporte
3. Kulu Honey

Gone with the recently proven 350m Grafton performers. Cobber Dude (7) was impressive last week and looks a further improver here. If he can stay clear early will be the one to beat.

BETTING STRATEGY

BACK (WIN) – Cobber Dude for 2 units at $2.50+

RACE 10 | NSW GREYHOUND TIPSKEY RUNNERS

1. Zan Unleashed
8. Miss Dudette
3. Esmay Nelly
6. Kulu Zac

Toughest race of the night to line the form up for mine. The box draw and expected improvement second up at Grafton has me lean towards Zan Unleashed (1) without too much confidence.

BETTING STRATEGY

No bet.

RACE 11 | NSW GREYHOUND TIPSKEY RUNNERS

2. Commands Respect
8. Daley Magic
4. Modern Message
1. Jimary Star

Commands Respect (2) is touchy at box rise, however even if he isn’t fast away tonight he maps to get the run and luck with the two best beginners in Daley Magic (8) and Modern Message (4) being wide runners, so he will have every chance to get the run through and win. Clearly best dog in the race.

BETTING STRATEGY

BACK (WIN) – Commands Respect for 3 units at $2+

RACE 12 | NSW GREYHOUND TIPSKEY RUNNERS

7. Flick The Joker
3. Mr Dude
8. Rams Bonus
2. Simple Shearer

Coming off the back of a career best performance last week in 25:57, Flick The Joker (7) deserves to be on top and start Favourite. The one concern is she has not gone as well from wider boxes, however she is improving in racing and this field is no harder than last start, actually looks slightly weaker.

BETTING STRATEGY

No bet.
