Canberra Raiders v Melbourne Storm

Saturday July 22, 5:30pm AEST  – GIO Stadium

Canberra have been pretty ordinary at face value for a long time here and face one of their toughest tasks against premiership front-runners Melbourne. The Raiders have played the Storm well recently though with three straight covers and six covers in the last eight. Home underdogs getting more than a try also have an excellent record off a win after State of Origin finishes, covering 23 of 32 since 2008. The Storm have covered just six of their last 15 as a road favourite of more than 4.5 points. The Raiders should lift for this and easy to see Melbourne in a flat spot.

BACK – Canberra +6.5

North Queensland Cowboys v New Zealand Warriors

Saturday July 22, 7:30pm AEST  – 1300SMILES Stadium

The Warriors are dusted. They are an absolute mess without Shaun Johnson. The last time he missed an extended period, the Warriors lost seven from seven with four of those losses by in excess of 20 points. The Cowboys have won 10 of the last 11 against the Warriors in Townsville and have been the best cover team in the NRL this year. The aggressive North Queensland pack should have a field day against a limp Warriors team.

Betting Strategy

BACK – North Queensland -9.5

Wests Tigers v Parramatta Eels

Sunday July 23, 4:00pm AEST – ANZ Stadium

The Tigers have only defeated Newcastle in their last eight games but have been reliable as a big outsider of late. The Tigers have covered 10 of their last 15 getting a start of eight points or more and they have covered seven of their last 10 at ANZ. The Eels have been going well of late but that has no doubt been accentuated by a kind Origin draw.

Betting Strategy

 BACK – Wests Tigers +8.5
