Race 1 Exeter – 1:00am
7. Still Together: The one that catches the eye is Still Together, who was upped markedly in trip on his handicap debut at Huntingdon in November, but despite being well backed on the day, didn’t seem to get home. He is well worth another chance after being dropped 2 lbs in the weights and now returning to a shorter trip, with talented conditional David Noonan taking the ride, and could yet have more to offer. Victor Dartnall’s runners seem to have turned a corner in recent weeks and his Mother Meldrum could be one to give the selection most to think about.
Race 5 Newcastle – 3:20am
3. Caraline: Has been thriving recently for the in-form Micky Hammond yard – who saddled three winners at Sedgefield on Sunday – and an 8 lb rise in the weights doesn’t look enough to stop her form winning again here and landing a five-timer. De Vous A Moi is in good form himself and looks the obvious threat, but a 3 lb rise for a win in a weak race last time may prove his undoing here.
Race 5 Southwell – 3:30am
5. Extreme Supreme: Has a good record on this surface and is obviously well treated considering he won over C&D from a 5 lb higher mark than this in 2014. He was ultimately disappointing on his belated return to fibresand in February this season when well backed, but he bounced back back to something near his best at Wolverhampton on his most recent start when third, and looks to have a big chance back on this surface now he is back in the swing of things. Elusivity won a seller over C&D two starts back and could provide the biggest threat to the selection.
