Race 3 – Lingfield 12:00am
1. Afjaan: Shaped well when second on his handicap debut at Kempton in November and confirmed the promise of that outing with a commanding success on his only subsequent start at Wolverhampton.
He showed a useful level of form on that occasion, travelling smoothly into contention as the field turned into the straight and forging clear under a hands-and-heels ride in the closing stages.
That form leaves his rivals with 5 lb to find on Timeform ratings and, although he has an eight month absence from the track to overcome here, Afjaan is fancied to continue his progression with a defeat of the similarly unexposed Red Box.

4. Olympic Runner: Looked in need of the run when fifth on her seasonal reappearance at Yarmouth and showed the benefit of that outing with a smooth victory back at that venue last month.
She appeared to relish the drop back to five furlongs on that occasion, quickening clear in the final furlong and giving the impression she could yet live up to her useful sprint pedigree.
She has an 8 lb hike in the weights to contend with in this stronger race, but remains open to more improvement after just five starts in her short career to date and Olympic Runner is taken to get the better of Discreet Hero and follow up here.

9. Reinforced: Showed very little in three starts as a two-year-old, but left that form well behind when second on his handicap debut at Redcar in May and remains potentially very well-handicapped off a mark just 2 lb higher here.
He actually fared better than the bare result that day, doing best of those ridden close to the pace and only giving way to a more conservatively ridden rival in the closing stages.
That form could hardly have worked out better, with the winner and the fourth both successful since and – 2 lb clear on Timeform ratings – Reinforced can see off the attentions of Commanche to open his account.
