Race 4 – Carlisle 1:55am
10. Nakadam: Ran well on both of his final two starts last season for Mike Smith, opening his account for his new yard at Kelso on his final run, and he still looks feasibly treated based on his French form from 6 lb higher in the weights.
Benzel was progressing nicely before being let down by his jumping early on at Warwick last time, and could be a danger to the selection granted a clear round.

Race 5 – 16:30 Carlisle
2. Oldgrangewood: Failed to justify some strong support on his handicap debut at Ayr on his final start last season, but the slow pace wasn’t ideal that day, and with a couple of front runners in this field in the form of Presenting Rose and Traditional Dancer, he is worth another chance to build on the promise he’d previously shown in maidens. Tomkevi is on a hat-trick and could be the main danger.

Race 6 – Carlisle 3:00am
2. Cloudy Dream: Despite there only being the three runners this is an interesting beginners chase, with all three contenders appealing as the types to do well over the larger obstacles. Cloudy Dream was the best of the three over hurdles, however, and probably should have won the Scottish Champion Hurdle at Ayr on his final start last season but for meeting some trouble and having his effort crucially delayed. He is an exciting chasing prospect and gets the vote.
