Race 4 – Towcester 12:40am
8. Yanmare: Despite doing plenty wrong on a track that perhaps didn’t play to his strengths last time at Warwick (jumped sketchily and went in snatches), Yanmare still ran out an impressive ten-length winner, and as a big imposing horse who seems a thorough stayer, he should have plenty more to offer at this testing track.
The form of his last win has worked out fairly well, too (all four of the horses that finished in behind him at least made the places next time out) and he should be very hard to beat.
BACK – Yanmare
Race 4 – Newcastle 1:20am
3. Airton: Plenty to like about Airton, whose second here back in October has worked out extremely well for the grade, with the winner Ajman Prince winning next time out and the third High Command winning his next two starts. Airton was adding to his good record at this track that day (two best efforts on ratings have come here), and he should be hard to beat now back from a break. High On Light was a consistent sort when trained by Tim Easterby and could be the one to chase him home on debut for her new yard.
BACK – Airton
Race 4- Chelmsford City 5:25am
5. Shypen: Ran right up to her best on her second start for Richard Fahey at Lingfield last month, and given that her best efforts for her former yard came over sprint trips, she could have more to offer now back at six and could still be on a workable mark. Alkhor only just held on to get off the mark in handicaps at Lingfield last time but is well-bred and lightly raced, so could be the main threat to the selection.
