R1 Norfolk Stakes (Group 2) (1) 5f 11:30am

Timeform Rating of previous winners: 124 123 124 119 114 (Avg 121)

Norfolk Stakes

Betting Forecast

$3.05 Global Applause, $5.3 Silver Line, $6.6 Red Lodge, $8.2 Peace Envoy, $8.8 Prince of Lir, $9.6 Legendary Lunch, $12 Prince of Cool, $13 Plata O Plomo, $26 bar

Analyst’s Verdict

Global Applause‘s all-the-way success at Sandown looks all the more impressive now that the second came out and ran a big race in the Coventry, so he ranks as the one to beat in another well-contested Norfolk Stakes. Obviously there are an abundance of potential improvers in the field, the pick of them being emphatic Nottingham maiden winner Silver Line and the Irish representative Peace Envoy.

R2 Tercentenary Stakes (Group 3) (1) 1¼m 12:05am

Timeform Rating of previous winners: 128 128 133 132 139 (Avg 132)

Tercentenary Stakes

Betting Forecast

$4.3 Abdon, Blue de Vega, $5.3 Hawkbill, $7.8 Steel of Madrid, $10.5 Long Island Sound, Prize Money, $13.5 Mulk, $17 Royal Artillery, $26 Race Day

Analyst’s Verdict

Abdon surely has plenty more to come after just 2 starts and is taken to improve past his Newmarket conqueror Hawkbill and provide Sir Michael Stoute with a third winner in this race since 2009. Steel of Madrid is another in this line-up who is very much going the right way and is expected to be on the premises along with Aidan O’Brien’s unbeaten colt Long Island Sound.

R3 Ribblesdale Stakes (Group 2) (1) 12:40am

Timeform Rating of previous winners: 130 135 131 123 127 (Avg 129)

Ribbesdale Stakes

Betting Forecast

$3.8 Architecture, $4.7 Even Song, $7.8 Sovereign Parade, $10.5 Queen’s Trust, $11.5 Chicadoro, $12 We Are Ninety, $14 The Black Princess, $17 Shall We, $22 bar

Analyst’s Verdict

Even Song looks sure to benefit from the step up to 1½m and can become the fifth Irish-trained winner of this Group 2 in the last 6 years. Oaks runner-up Architecture has a tricky draw but still looks the obvious danger if this doesn’t come too soon after Epsom. The John Gosden-trained pair Sovereign Parade and The Black Princess head a long list of progressive types among the rest of the field.

R4 Gold Cup In Honour of The Queen’s 90th Birthday (Group 1) (1) 2½m 1:20am

Timeform Rating of previous winners: 136 131 131 132 130 (Avg 132)

Gold Cup

Betting Forecast

$1.99 Order of St George, $9.6 Max Dynamite, $12 Mizzou, Flying Officer, Clever Cookie, $15.5 Pallasator, $24 Scotland, $30 Curbyourenthusiasm $38 bar

Analyst’s Verdict

Order of St George produced the best staying performance in Europe last year in the Irish St Leger, and confirmed his well-being with a comfortable success at Leopardstown this month, so he is taken to further enhance his master trainer’s already excellent record in this prestigious race. The ground has come right for Clever Cookie, while Max Dynamite and Mizzou look set to be involved, also.

R5 Britannia Stakes (Heritage Handicap) (2) 1m 3:00am

Top Rated & Flags

Britannia Stakes

Betting Forecast

$9.4 Out And About, $10 Mustashry, $12.5 Chief Whip, Garcia, $15 Folkswood, $13.5 Defrocked, $14.5 Abe Lincoln, $17 Oh This Is Us, $18 bar

Analyst’s Verdict

Out And About gets the vote in a typically competitive renewal of this event. He only had a pair of starts as a juvenile, but had clearly improved over the winter judged by his impressive return at Haydock last month, and is taken to follow up. As you would expect, there are any number of improvers up against him with Folkswood, Fighting Temeraire, Garcia and Oh This Is Us of particular interest.

R6 King George V Stakes (Handicap) (2) 1½m 2:35am

Top Rated & Flags

King George V Stakes

Betting Forecast

$5.4 Lovell, $7.4 Shraaoh, $8.2 Primitivo, $10 The Major General, $12.5 Point of View, Guy Fawkes, $13.5 Harrison, $15 Midhmaar, $17 bar

Analyst’s Verdict

Sir Michael Stoute has won this 4 times since 1998 and in Shraaoh he saddles a colt brimming with potential. Indeed, the son of Sea The Stars impressed when landing a Newcastle maiden last time and, with further improvement anticipated now pitched into a handicap, he earns the vote. There are dangers aplenty, headed by the progressive Primitivo, while Guy Fawkes and Lovell also merit respect.
