$6.2 Tepin, $5.1 Ervedya, $5.2 Belardo, $8.4 Endless Drama, $8.8 Esoterique, $15 Kodi Bear, $23 Amazing Maria, $24 Toormore, $30 Barchan
Analyst’s Verdict
Ervedya won the Coronation Stakes at this meeting last year, and looks set for another big run following a sound reappearance last month, so she looks a solid alternative to the high-class Tepin, who is the one to beat on form but has to prove she is as effective in this different environment. The rain which has arrived will enhance the chances of Belardo, and he’s another to consider.

$3.4 Caravaggio, $7.2 Psychedelic Funk, $8.6 Mehmas, $9.4 Yalta, $10 Mokarris, $18.5 Thunder Snow, Broken Stones, $21 Silvertoni, $25 bar
Analyst’s Verdict
It’s hard to get away from Caravaggio, who has looked a very smart performer winning both starts this season, and he can give his master trainer a record eighth success in this contest. As ever, the Coventry isn’t a one-horse race though, with the similarly unbeaten trio Psychedelic Funk, Yalta and Mokarris all very live dangers.

$3.55 Mecca’s Angel, $6.4 Profitable, $8.4 Acapulco, $14.5 Waady, $15 Pearl Secret, $20 Goldream, Muthmir, $23 Mongolian Saturday, $24 bar
Analyst’s Verdict
It’s hard to choose between Mecca’s Angel and Profitable. The latter had match fitness on his side when winning the Temple Stakes at Haydock and Mecca’s Angel narrowly gets the vote to turn the tables. Acapulco looks best of the others.

$2.56 The Gurkha, $2.86 Awtaad, $7 Galileo Gold, $14 Emotionless, $21 Zonderland, $50 First Selection, $65 Cymric, $130 Ehtiraas
Analyst’s Verdict
A fascinating clash between 3 Guineas winners, with The Gurkha making the best impression when successful in France and having the most scope for further progress. Curragh-winner Awtaad is improving too, though all his form is on soft ground, while Newmarket winner Galileo Gold is better than he was able to show in Ireland.

Betting Forecast
$7.2 Pique Sous, $8.2 Silver Concorde, $8.6 Sempre Medici, $9.8 Jennies Jewel, $10 Galizzi, $12 No Heretic, $15 Moscato, $15.5 Eshtiaal, $17 bar
Analyst’s Verdict
Silver Concorde did well to finish as close as he did when third to No Heretic in the Chester Cup, having been left with plenty to do. This marathon trip should be in his favour and Dermot Weld’s charge is taken to emerge on top this time. No Heretic should again be involved but Pique Sous, a winner at the 2014 Royal meeting, and Galizzi, who looks the pick of Godolphin’s quartet, are feared most.

$6 Drafted, $6.1 Big City Dreamin, $8.6 Mister Trader, $9.2 Battaash, $12 Tomily, $12.5 Savannah’s Dream, $13 Ardad, $14.5 Kananee, $15 bar
Analyst’s Verdict
Tomily may have had four races already, but he’s created a really good impression the last twice. He faces by far his stiffest test to date here, but it’s hard to think we’ve seen the best of him yet, so he is taken to land the spoils. The North American duo of Drafted and Big City Dreamin have to be feared, with Yulong Baobei and Pedestal completing the shortlist.
