The Trial Files: Geelong December 16

Race 5 – JT Dixon BM64 3YO+ Fillies and Mares 1100m

Speed Map

IAMHERE will lead from barrier one. TIZSO WICKED has raced close to the speed over 1000M in the past so she should take a prominent spot over 1100M today.

SHUFETISH and LEMON SOJU haven’t been pressured early in recent trials but both have degrees of tactical speed and should be forward of midfield.

IAMHERE should get a chance to dictate to her rivals following the scratching of UNIQUE STORM & MAGNAGEM.

Standout Trial

IAMHERE trialled like a bomb at Cranbourne (Trial 12) on November 23rd prompting these notes:

“Brent Stanley is brilliant at training speed into his horses, his 4YO mare IAMHERE scooted around the Cranbourne track in very smart time. She led with ease and kicked away strongly for John Keating.”

Key Trials

SHUFETISH backs up after trialling at Balnarring last Wednesday where she was just fair. She settled off the speed and whilst not tested to the line it would have been good to see her make a little more ground given the strength of this race.

LEMON SOJU now with Robert Smerdon (formerly Bjorn Baker), having just the one official trial leading into this race. In her trial she jumped just off the speed at Cranbourne on the 9th of November and wasn’t tested to the line. It was an OK bit of work despite only finishing 9th.

TIZSO WICKED was plain in an October 20 trial at Cranbourne.

The Standout

IAMHERE has a poor first up record but this mare in on an upward spiral and it might pay to ignore that stat.

Four starts back she bolted in at Benalla over 1200m and the time for the day was outstanding – she ran half a second quicker than PRETTY POSSUM and BEST SUGGESTION.

At her most recent run before a spell she was involved in an early speed battle that cost her victory.

This 4YO mare seems to be back in career best form and she will take a power of catching from the front. She rates a $2.25 favourite here.

The Danger

I am very wary of LEMON SOJU. She was a debut winner (albeit on a heavy track) over 1000m at Kembla Grange beating a reasonably handy field in the process.

This 4YO daughter of Sebring seemed in good order when having that very quiet trial at Cranbourne and from gate six she will enjoy a nice run in transit.
