Race 4 Aspirations (1-4 WINS 1-25 STARTS) Final
#6 Buck Forty
Although the Jason Thompson kennel has been flying of late, I was very disappointed with his run here last week. He had the benefit of Box 1 and was only steady to begin. He cannot afford to begin poorly here. There is plenty of early speed underneath him with Bag of Magic and Invictus Blu running sizzling first sections last week and pressure from Go Go Treetment and Allen Portland, who recorded quicker times to the first peg last week. In his heat he seemed to take forever to go through his gears along the rail and even though the leaders bumped on the home turn, he still didn’t make much of an impression on the winner. His second place finish was very flattering and I can’t see him winning from this draw.

This chaser tips the scales at only 22.7 kgs. Her heat run was far from bad, in fact she recorded the second fastest time, however she was the beneficiary of the “seas parting” at box rise where the dog underneath her veered strongly left at box rise allowing her all the room in the world to push forward. I don’t believe she will get that luxury here with the chasers in Box 2 and 3 running quicker times to the first marker. With her tiny size and if there is a shuffle up on the first turn I would rather be Laying her than Backing her – I’m happy to take her on.
