Pakenham Markets R1 – 9

R1 Bet365 Maiden Plate | 2200m | 5:30pm

This is a low grade staying race, which makes confidence hard to find. Street Opera however is lightly raced and has improved his ratings as he has stepped up in distance this campaign. His last start second at Moe looks hard to beat in this.

8. Zrinski $2.90
4. Double Whril $8.00

R3 Inglis Maiden Plate | 1600m | 6:30pm

Sacred Theme is a lightly raced progressive type who did an excellent job last start to make up ground from a long way back in the field. Stepping up to 1600m with the prospect of settling closer in the run looks ideal.

Stone Warrior is first up after just two career starts and both have returned ratings better than the exposed form of the other here. The recent form of the stable provides some confidence that he is set to run well here.

Crystal Dreamer is second up here off a good second placing over 1000m last start, with a rating right up to the winning mark of this race. They key is that he also has scope to improve towards his career peak which came second up over 1200m last preparation. Galaxy Raider is first up but showed talent on debut last time when a very good win in a Sandown Maiden. He’s a definite threat here but on exposed form is likely to be giving Crystal Dreamer a clear head start.

Race Confidence: Good

Runson is first up but has two ratings from three runs last campaign that are clearly better than the others here. One of those was from a 2.7L fifth in Saturday class. If anywhere near that level here then he’ll be extremely hard to beat.

Miss Scandilous has been very solid in her last two, beaten 1.5L and 2L in very solid rating races that measure up very competitive here away from Runson. With the benefit of racing forward she’s a value prospect at double figure odds in current markets.

Tykiato is first up and has won her last two when resuming. Her career peak came on the synthetic surface at Geelong when first up and that mark will be very hard to beat here. Orujo finds it hard to win, but has a number of past performances good enough to breakthrough here. Back to 1000m is a big key as all of his best ratings have come over this trip.

Race Confidence: Good

12. Tykiato $3.00

R8 Heritage Tavern BM64 | 1600m | 9:00pm

Admirabeel is a lightly raced progressive horse that looks ideally suited up to 1600m and will be hard to beat. However current odds on quotes are factoring in too much ‘potential’. Field of Fire was poor on a Soft 7 at Sandown last start, but prior to that was a 3.3L high rating winner over this track and distance. A return to that type of form is a tough mark for Admirabeel to beat. Magazine Gap is lightly raced and comes off a very solid rating on pace win at Mornington last start.

Race Confidence: Average

2. Admirabeel $3.00

Benny Dee had genuine excuses last start so I’m happy to overlook that run and go on his previous two ratings which are super competitive here. New Summer Night is racing in top form and has somewhat been a victim of her get back style in recent runs. She’ll be back again here, but her ratings are right up to winning this and if things go her way, she’ll be hard to hold out. Honfleurs was moderate last start at Sandown but her prior win at Geelong is right up to the winning standard here.
