EXPERT HARNESS TIPS: MENANGLE

Best Bets

BEST BACK OF THE DAY

BACK: Race 8 | #9 Tims A Trooper (WIN) (Rated at $3.50)

G2 THE STOCKADE $100K 2400M:

Tims A Trooper can bounce back from his defeat in the Singo and potentially deliver Grant and Trista Dixon a historic double. Expect Tims A Trooper to be driven cold early this week, potentially making a move to breeze at the bell if the tempo drops right off. He is quality pacer who is ready to step into the limelight.

BEST LAY OF THE DAY

LAY: Race 7 | #11 Captain Ravishing (PLACE) (Rated at $4.00)

THE EUREKA 2400M $2 MILLION:

Looking to take Captain Ravishing on here for a variety of reasons:

  • Key trainer switch – this pacer left the most successful barn in Australia
  • Entering a likely brutal 2400m contest first up
  • Trials in preparation didn’t scream he is flying

RACE 1

3. Heavenly Holly
2. Teagan Banner
5. Thee Old Bomb
6. Mickey Oh

Betting Strategy

BACK: #3 Heavenly Holly (WIN) (Rated at $4.50)

KARI JC CAFFYN PLATE MILE $25K:

Indigenous Drivers Race that is penalty free, this race is always up tempo from the get-go.

Quality race edition this year with the likes of Teagen Banner, Thee Old Bomb, Heavenly Holly and Tasmanian Mickey Oh to do battle.

19-year-old driver Lleyton Green has 169 career wins to his name a strike rate this season of 14%, ability wise he has a lap on his more inexperienced rivals.

Lleyton takes the drive on Heavenly Holly, her natural pattern is to be driven sit-sprint. From barrier 3 she can stalk the speed and power home late.

RACE 2

12. Aromet Girl
4. Stylish Lazarus
7. Lady Kingsclair
10. Modern Sheen

Betting Strategy

No bet.

G2 NSW BREEDERS CHALLENGE BLUE – 2YO FILLIES MILE $100K:

Feel Aromet Girl has the best ability of any runner here but the way the barriers have been drawn it makes her task that much harder for driver Cam Hart.

Can’t split Aromet Girl, Stylish Lazarus and Lady Kingsclair.

Perhaps playing exotics is the best angle.

RACE 3

5. Tin Tin Jo
12. Shez The Reason
8. Killara Dragon
6. Dougs Rules

Betting Strategy

BACK: #8 Killara Dragon (PLACE) (Rated at $4.00)

Tin Tin Jo and Shez The Reason dominate the race. They are quality fillies with proven track records. Advantage to Tin Tin Jo who looks the clear leader, Shez The Reason will have to breeze and this makes her task much more difficult.

Killara Dragon was an eye-catching 3rd behind Shez The Reason in her heat. Lightly raced with the career record of 4: 2 | 0 | 2 she looks to have plenty of upside. Interdominion winning driver Joshua Gallagher take the reins and with the right cover in transit, she can be powering home into a placing.

RACE 4

6. The Greek General
7. Paradise Point
2. Vite Monet
1. Double Fear

Betting Strategy

BACK: #6 The Greek General (EACH-WAY) (Rated at $5.00)

G2 NSW BREEDERS CHALLENGE BLUE – 2YO COLTS & GELDINGS MILE $100K:

Great race on paper with multiple winning hopes.

Loved the last start win of The Greek General, breezing in 1.53.7 over this track and trip. Master driver Luke McCarthy takes the reins again. The rapid race to race improvement this gelding has been making is enough to make him an each way play tonight.

Paradise Point was super winning his heat, powering home over the top of Lettuce Nipya. Marked him clear second pick, young star Jack Callaghan takes the drive again.

Happy to take on Misterfourthousand (short enough) and Lettuce Nipya from the bad barrier.

RACE 5

11. Better Be The Best
1. Franco Forza
6. Bretts Red
5. Justa Dragon

Betting Strategy

BACK: #1 Franco Forza (PLACE) (Rated at $1.70)

G2 NSW BREEDERS CHALLENGE BLUE – 3YO COLTS & GELDINGS MILE $100K:

The equine wrecking ball that is Better Be The Best will stomp out a big mile on the front end for trainer-driver Nathan Turnbull. Excited to see him go around in the flesh.

From a betting perspective we can make an earn from Franco Forza the place. Cam Hart will hustle out and hopefully do enough to hold up early, from here releasing Better Be The Best is the logical next step. If able to secure this trip in transit, he is a place lock.

RACE 6

2. Mach Dan
1. Spirit Of St Louis
5. Better Eclipse
8. Rock N Roll Doo

Betting Strategy

BACK: #1 Spirit Of St Louise (Rated at $1.80) (PLACE)

G1 LEN SMITH MILE $150K:

Sensational edition of the Len Smith Mile.

Host of winning chances where Spirit Of St Louis and Mach Dan draw to advantage over all other key rivals. Suspect Spirit Of St Louis will release Mach Dan and stalk him in transit. He can add another top 3 finish in a feature race yet again.

Better Eclipse and Rock N Roll Doo appear back to their best form, clear winning hopes.

Former NZer and now QLD trained Hot And Treacherous may be the best roughie in the field at $20+.

South Coast Arden looks the logical breeze horse if Rock N Roll Doo is driven for one run, this is a role he is very much accustomed to but to sit parked and finish top 3 in this field would take a monumental performance.

RACE 7

13. Leap To Fame
12. Catch A Wave
4. The Lost Storm
6. Speak The Truth

Betting Strategy

LAY: # 11 Captain Ravishing (PLACE) (Rated at $4.00)

THE EUREKA 2400M $2 MILLION:

The inaugural running of The Eureka features two genuine Grand Circuit performers in Leap To Fame and Catch A Wave.

This race is a slot holder event for Australian bred 3YO and 4YO horses over the 2400m.

Preferential draw is given to the 3YOs and then Mares.

Leap To Fame is poised to deliver a performance worthy of the $2 million prize money. He has had a stellar QLD Winter Carnival and comes into this grand final rock hard fit and ready to rumble. Leap To Fame is by super sire Bettors Delight, he is a staying machine and the 2400m trip plays right into his hands.

Catch A Wave is an elite talent, Andy Gath has openly claimed he is the best horse he has trained in a career that is Hall of Fame worthy. The winner of the Chariots of Fire and the Mircle Mile earlier this year he will be leading for a very long way.

The Lost Storm is an exciting 3YO in the Emma Stewart barn. If able to stalk the favourites in transit, he could easily give them a fright.

Looking to take Captain Ravishing on here for a variety of reasons:
• Key trainer switch – this pacer left the most successful barn in Australia
• Entering a likely brutal 2400m contest first up
• Trials in preparation didn’t scream he is flying

RACE 8

9. Tims A Trooper
7. Dangerzone
2. Sure Thing Captain
5. Captains Knock

Betting Strategy

BACK: #9 Tims A Trooper (WIN) (Rated at $3.50)

G2 THE STOCKADE $100K 2400M:

The consolation to The Eureka with the same race conditions.

Tims A Trooper can bounce back from his defeat in the Singo and potentially deliver Grant and Trista Dixon a historic double. Expect Tims A Trooper to be driven cold early this week, potentially making a move to breeze at the bell if the tempo drops right off. He is a quality pacer who is ready to step into the limelight.
