GEELONG | VICTORIAN GREYHOUND TIPS | FRIDAY 1 JULY 2022

Weather: Fine | Track: Good

BEST BACK OF THE NIGHT: Race 6 | #2 Solace for 2 units at $1.75+

Solace looks a serious up-and-comer, showing great heart and will to chase at Bendigo. He has the same draw here, which looks a positive. I am not too concerned that he hasn’t raced here previously, rather it should ensure he stays at a backable price.

BEST LAY OF THE NIGHT: Race 11 | #8 Matts Hope for 1.5 units at <$2.50

Matts Hope is a dog I like to BACK from inside draws and LAY from wide draws. I think he will have some trouble crossing here with Malo Magic in good form and Naval Guard showing stacks of promise with a 22.43 PB to his name.

RACE 4 | MICHAEL TYE’S SELECTIONS

7. Extravagance
1. Smoking Sophie
4. Forbes Delight
2. Tiggerlong Car

BETTING STRATEGY

Extravagance drops back in distance in this event but has experience over this trip and is well drawn out wide. Her time of 28.16 at Bendigo was fantastic in wet conditions and this isn’t the strongest race.

BACK (WIN) – Extravagance for 1 unit at $1.85+

RACE 5 | MICHAEL TYE’S SELECTIONS

8. Purnia Bale
2. Jagger Bale
1. Crackerjack Suni
7. Wise Dorper

BETTING STRATEGY

Purnia Bale can be hit or miss early but she looks suited by the outside draw here. If she can lead early, she may hold on to win.

BACK (WIN) – Purnia Bale for 1 unit at $3.75+

RACE 6 | MICHAEL TYE’S SELECTIONS

2. Solace
1. Oldrik Bale
4. Weblec Raider
6. Brecken Bale

BETTING STRATEGY

Solace looks a serious up-and-comer and showed great heart and will to chase at Bendigo. He has the same draw here, which looks a positive. I am not too concerned that he hasn’t raced here previously, rather it should ensure he stays at a backable price.

BACK (WIN) – Solace for 2 units at $1.75+

RACE 7 | MICHAEL TYE’S SELECTIONS

1. Weblec Hawk
4. Joyous Venture
6. Johnny Disco
8. Wow Star

BETTING STRATEGY

No bet.

RACE 8 | MICHAEL TYE’S SELECTIONS

2. Plaintiff
6. Zipping Heat
4. Blazing Times
8. Spring Bjorn

BETTING STRATEGY

Plaintiff took a bad fall last start when he looked in a winning position. He is racing again not long after that tumble, so the Thompson camp obviously think he would be spot on to take his place in the field here. This looks a very friendly draw and he should be able to lead all the way.

BACK (WIN) – Plaintiff for 2 units at $1.65+

RACE 9 | MICHAEL TYE’S SELECTIONS

5. Miss Faberge
3. Opal Reef
8. Dr Matrix
6. Zipping Newman

BETTING STRATEGY

Opal Reef has been raced sparingly of late so she may have had some injury issues. Miss Faberge flew here in a Maiden last start in 22.49 and will be hard to beat if she finds a soft lead.

LAY (WIN) – Opal Reef for 1.5 units at <$4.40

RACE 10 | MICHAEL TYE’S SELECTIONS

6. Zipping Bronte
3. Ferocious Caitty
7. Where’s Herbie
8. Zambora Lou

GEELONG | VICTORIAN RACING TIPS | FRIDAY 1 JULY 2022

Rail: +9m 1700m – 800m, +11 Remainder | Track Condition: Heavy8

Expecting an advantage to horses that will settle of the rails in run and in lanes 3+ in the straight.

BEST BACK OF THE DAY: Race 3 | #10 Soho Queen

Very keen on the Waterhouse & Bott-trained filly at second career start. Goes straight to the front from barrier 1 and will prove very tough to run down out to 1447m.

1. Cheval Saint
13. Atmosphere
10. Thesecondatportsea
9. Princess Tosen

Betting Strategy

Low confidence race with a majority of the field on debut over the 1347m. Will prove to be a strong form race moving forward.

Race 2 | VIC Racing Tips | Key Runners

9. Thalursian
5. Kikuyu
6. Permutation
2. Arohaboy

Betting Strategy

BACK (WIN) – Thalursian $2+

7. Nerrina Lolita
8. Pontificate
9. Snow Business

Betting Strategy

BACK (WIN) – Soho Queen

4. Lord Pierro
3. Logan Court
11. Xylina Warrior
6. Star Stock

Betting Strategy

Low confidence race with nothing splitting the top half of the market and giving us an edge. Other races appeal as betting propositions

2. Morean
7. Butter Blonde
11. Luna Solar
12. What A Sham

Betting Strategy

BACK (WIN) – Morean

3. Bellman
9. Swear By Her
2. National Choice
8. Indented Heart

Betting Strategy

BACK (WIN) – Bellman

Resumed well when heavily backed over 1350m last start. Strips fitter now and with the early speed will lead and be able to dictate the speed to suit with the inform Jarrod Fry on board.

HAWKESBURY | NSW RACING TIPS | THURSDAY 30 JUNE 2022

Thursday racing at Hawkesbury. The track is currently a good 4 and I expect it to remain in that range. The rail is +2m 1300m-450m, true remainder.

BEST BACK OF THE DAY: Race 2 | #3 Count On Me for 2 units

Ran a distant second to the The Milkybar Kid last start who has since come out and won impressively in what was a much stronger race than this. The gelding by Reliable Man looks suited stepping up to this distance fourth up and with Bowman sticking, will be hard to beat today.

BEST LAY OF THE DAY: Race 5 | #10 Glint Of Silver for 1 unit

The last start was just okay when getting a long way back and working home. The sectionals home were just fair in comparison to the rest of the meeting and I feel that this horse could be over-bet with Bowman booked.

Race 1 | NSW Racing Tips | Linton Chataway’s Selections

7. Awesome Wonder (IRE)
4. Vyner
3. Stella Glow
2. Alloway

Betting Strategy

No bet. At the current prices there is no edge, so I am happy to stay out.

Race 2 | NSW Racing Tips | Linton Chataway’s Selections

3. Count On Me (NZ)
8. Pioneer Lass
9. Queenmaker
4. Makadeel

Betting Strategy

Ran a distant second to the The Milkybar Kid last start who has since come out and won impressively in what was a much stronger race than this. The gelding by Reliable Man looks suited stepping up to this distance fourth up and with Bowman sticking, will be hard to beat today.

BACK (WIN) – Count On Me for 2 units

Race 3NSW Racing Tips | Linton Chataway’s Selections

9. Paballo
7. Grebeni
4. Miss Mya
10. To His Credit

Betting Strategy

At a big price, I am happy to have a small bet on this runner from the low draw. In his recent trial he was never really asked for an effort and Jay Ford takes the ride over the stablemate, who he previously had ridden at the trials.

BACK (WIN) – Paballo for 1 unit

Race 4NSW Racing Tips | Linton Chataway’s Selections

1. Beirut Miss
4. Feirme Prince
12. Arale
8. Ovoid

Betting Strategy

Beirut Miss has made a promising debut to her racing career with two second placings and I think she can go one better today. She looks suited stepping up to 1400m and the winner of her last start has since gone within a whisker of winning a strong mid week race. I expect this form to stand up in a race of this quality.

BACK (WIN) – Beirut Miss for 2 units

Race 5NSW Racing Tips | Linton Chataway’s Selections

2. Dark Dawn
4. Secret Hunter
5. Notifies
10. Glint Of Silver

Betting Strategy

The last start was just okay when getting a long way back and working home. The sectionals home were just fair in comparison to the rest of the meeting and I feel that this horse could be over-bet with Bowman booked.

LAY (WIN) – Glint Of Sliver for 1 unit

Race 6NSW Racing Tips | Key Runners

9. Sweet Mercy
7. Wonderwomen
8. Choisir’s Choice
3. Dollar Magic

Betting Strategy

Ran well first up in a stronger race than this, however I just feel that this horse will have map issues from gate 11 over 1000m. There is decent enough speed below her and I feel that she can get caught wide without cover here.

LAY (WIN) – Dollar Magic for 1 unit

Race 7 | NSW Racing Tips | Linton Chataway’s Selections

1. Destiny’s Bounty
3. Pole Position
4. Tocomah
7. The Himalayas

Betting Strategy

Did get the perfect run last time when Nash was able to control the race throughout, however this horse had more to offer through the line and this looks to set up well here with the claim. I expect this horse to sit outside the leader and be fighting out the finish.

BACK (WIN) – Destiny’s Bounty for 2 units

Race 8 | NSW Racing Tips | Linton Chataway’s Selections

4. Roseirro
6. Viren
5. Glamour Fox
10. Vanburg

Betting Strategy

No bets. At the current prices there is no edge, so I am happy to stay out.

GRAFTON | NSW GREYHOUND TIPS | SUNDAY 19 JUNE 2022

BEST BACK OF THE NIGHT: Race 11 | #2 Commands Respect for 3 units win at $2

Dog with a big motor who maps to have a good run through underneath two good beginners who are drawn outside of him and like to stay wide.

BEST LAY OF THE NIGHT: Race 4 | #1 Kapow for 2 units at <$3

If we continually lay dogs that are favourite having their first run at Grafton, especially in fields against experienced locals, we will finish well in front in the overall game. Kapow (1) fits that bill tonight. She is a smart dog, however is very short for her first start here and happy to take her on.

TRACK/MEETING OVERVIEW

This meeting is highlighted by race 7, The Thunderbolt, which is the first ever running of the $75k to the winner race considered the worlds richest short course race and a great lineup. The rest of the card has also attracted good quality races throughout the 12 race meeting.

RACE 1 | NSW GREYHOUND TIPS | KEY RUNNERS

5. Kiss Me Chaos
1. Ali’s Mate
2. Kilara Boy
8. Oh Rueben

Kiss Me Chaos (5) is a nicely bred bitch who is the litter sister of a recent fast, impressive winner at Gosford and if she has even close to the ability of her sister, she will be winning this only average maiden race.

Ali’s Mate (1) has been running ok. He is only a fair beginner and running around 20.60, will need to find a few lengths and begin better to be a genuine winning chance.

BETTING STRATEGY

BACK (WIN) – Kiss Me Chaos 2 units win at $2

RACE 2 | NSW GREYHOUND TIPS | KEY RUNNERS

2. Jimary Willow
3. Conair
4. Ranger Mick
7. Raw Honey

Jimary Willow (3) comes back to Grafton after a couple of very good runs at Albion Park and looks pitch forked into this race. She is hit and miss at the start, however, has great mid race speed and only needs an ounce of luck in this race to win this comfortably.

BETTING STRATEGY

BACK (WIN) – Jimary Wilow for 3 units at $2

RACE 3 | NSW GREYHOUND TIPSKEY RUNNERS

6. Sophie Zarr Wren
2. Darryl’s Girl
1. Who’s A Picture
3. Lady Charm

A lot will revolve around how well Sophie Zarr Wren (6) returns after three months off from racing. She is a talented bitch when given space and is a group 1 finalist at Wentworth Park in October last year. If she is 100% ready to go then she is the one to beat.

Darryl’s Girl (2) is learning with racing. Two starts ago she won here impressively in 25.39, however the inside draw is definitely of some concern here tonight and she will need some luck early to find space to charge home.

Who’s A Picture (1) has a great map with both above selections having question marks and usually don’t have a lot of pace early, so he will have every chance from the draw.

BETTING STRATEGY

No bet.

RACE 4 | NSW GREYHOUND TIPSKEY RUNNERS

8. Undivided
7. Dark Fate
2. Akaroa
1. Kapow

Really even 3/4th grade 350m race with a number of chances. I have the two outside drawn dogs in Undivided (8) & Dark fate (7) mapped to carve across and whichever of the two can get the early momentum will likely get away with this race.

Kapow (1) is a classy dog, however winning first up at Grafton as we continually see, especially against experience track dogs is never easy no matter what box or class you have. Happy to take her on first up here.

BETTING STRATEGY

LAY – Kapow for 2 units at <$3

RACE 5 | NSW GREYHOUND TIPSKEY RUNNERS

8. Little Zephyr
1. Pan’s Priority
7. Horace
6. Fire Legend

This $5k non graded 450m race has drawn together a very good line-up with a number of genuine chances.

Little Zephyr (8) comes back to Grafton where in her last start here she won the regional heat of the Million $$ Chase. She hasn’t fired around Albion park in some quality races and will no doubt relish the return back to Grafton. If she can show her best box manners, she can carve across and lead and it will take a big effort from any of these dogs to run her down.

Pan’s Priority (1) looks a talented young bitch, however this is a rise in class and I need to see her beat this level of opposition before I can take her on top. No doubting her talent and the perfect draw also suits.

Horace (7) and Fire Legend (6) are the proven class runners, just tough draws to overcome, especially with a fast beginner drawn on their outside.

BETTING STRATEGY

No bet.

RACE 6 | NSW GREYHOUND TIPS | KEY RUNNERS

3. Golden Zesta
4. Apache Don
6. Casual Glance
1. Quick As

Things don’t slow down as we hit a high quality 350m non graded race also worth $5k to the winner.

Golden Zesta (3) is the value runner for mine. She has great pace early and has beaten the favourite Apache Don on merits in a fast 19.79. If she can begin at her best and lead she will be very hard to get past.

Apache Don is 9/18 over this track and distance and was ultra-impressive winning the non-graded race last week in 19.85. He is undoubtedly one of the clear dangers and likely favourite, he just needs to begin at his best from the draw as this race is pack full of speed dogs.

BETTING STRATEGY

BACK (WIN) – Golden Zesta for 1 unit at $5

RACE 7 | NSW GREYHOUND TIPSKEY RUNNERS

1. Integrity Mate
2. Fast Liar
3. Typhoon Sammy
7. Orara Dan

What a great line-up for the first ever Thunderbolt Final, with $75k to the winner and over $100k in total prizemoney.

Integrity Mate (1) has won his last 5 straight and poses a strong record from the inside having won 3/3 from box 1 and 7/8 from box 2. He often takes a few strides to get really going, so the start will be important, however this week he does have two dogs to his outside that while can begin fast will generally stay off the fence, so he will have every chance to charge underneath.

Fast Liar (2) lid pinged last week and as with many of these dogs, when he is on early, he is on. If he begins similar to last week, he likely leads early and running the time he ran, will take a power of running down. If he doesn’t ping the lids then he may find it tough to push through.

Typhoon Sammy (3) is a class runner, with the Ballarat Cup to his name and is 2/2 since returning from Melbourne back to his home with trainer John Dart. He has been in these big races before and of he gets the start right and can avoid Fast Liar early, his class will see him right in this finish.

Orara Dan (7) is drawn on the wrong side of the track to where he likes, he will be charging home late and while he will need some major luck to win, he will be pushing hard for a placing late.

I have left our Orson Laurie (6) however he is the equal track record holder and he is either going to come out running and cross early and be a big chance or struggle from the draw as well as the reserve Runner Vamoose (9, box 4) who gains the run and ran a great race just behind Orara Dan & Typhoon Sammy last week and the experience on the track will no doubt help.…..just can’t pick them all in a quality race like this.

BETTING STRATEGY

BACK (WIN) – Integrity Mate for 2 units at $2.50+

RACE 8 | NSW GREYHOUND TIPSKEY RUNNERS

8. Back And Forth
1. Eye In Sky
5. Never Sweat
4. Candy Chaos

The scratching of Vamoose gaining a run in the Thunderbolt final throws this race wide open.

Back And Forth is drawn well and maps to burn down the outside, while our second pick likes that little space so will have to begin well as the 1 box has proven a challenge in the past with an 1/10 record from box 1 or 2.

BETTING STRATEGY

BACK (WIN) – Back And Forth for 1 unit at $3.50+

RACE 9 | NSW GREYHOUND TIPSKEY RUNNERS

7. Cobber Dude
5. Been Framed
1. Laporte
3. Kulu Honey

Gone with the recently proven 350m Grafton performers. Cobber Dude (7) was impressive last week and looks a further improver here. If he can stay clear early will be the one to beat.

BETTING STRATEGY

BACK (WIN) – Cobber Dude for 2 units at $2.50+

RACE 10 | NSW GREYHOUND TIPSKEY RUNNERS

1. Zan Unleashed
8. Miss Dudette
3. Esmay Nelly
6. Kulu Zac

Toughest race of the night to line the form up for mine. The box draw and expected improvement second up at Grafton has me lean towards Zan Unleashed (1) without too much confidence.

BETTING STRATEGY

No bet.

RACE 11 | NSW GREYHOUND TIPSKEY RUNNERS

2. Commands Respect
8. Daley Magic
4. Modern Message
1. Jimary Star

Commands Respect (2) is touchy at box rise, however even if he isn’t fast away tonight he maps to get the run and luck with the two best beginners in Daley Magic (8) and Modern Message (4) being wide runners, so he will have every chance to get the run through and win. Clearly best dog in the race.

BETTING STRATEGY

BACK (WIN) – Commands Respect for 3 units at $2+

RACE 12 | NSW GREYHOUND TIPSKEY RUNNERS

7. Flick The Joker
3. Mr Dude
8. Rams Bonus
2. Simple Shearer

Coming off the back of a career best performance last week in 25:57, Flick The Joker (7) deserves to be on top and start Favourite. The one concern is she has not gone as well from wider boxes, however she is improving in racing and this field is no harder than last start, actually looks slightly weaker.

BETTING STRATEGY

No bet.

Distance: 461 m

Track Record: 25.44 (Stanley Gordon, 24th October 2019)

Weather Conditions: Fine, good track expected.

FINAL FIELD

(1) Aussie Secret

The Victorian stars first step from the boxes was to head up the track from the same draw in his heat. He was bumped and quickly adjusted back to the inside where he was provided plenty of room to challenge for the lead with a first split of 5.10.

He was one of the fastest runners to the second mark with a time of 11.08 and the runners that can match him here both raced away from the rail so he may get another chance to work to the lead before the home straight. One of the top chances.

(2) Mepunga Gertie

Seemed to appreciate the outside draw a week ago when she began well and stayed wide to the turn recording smart sections of 5.14 and 11.18. She struggled from this draw in her Devonport Chase heat last month when she was crossed early and found trouble seemingly wanting to race away from the rail.

She will need her best here to get clear racing room in the run to the turn.

(3) Eagles Nest Egg

The slowest qualifier for the final was also the equal slowest runner for the first section with a time of 5.22 from box one. He recovered to hold a forward spot with impressive mid-race speed before a check before the home straight saw him come to the outside of the leader and win by a small margin.

He won’t be able to give any of these chasers a head-start and may find it tough from back in the field.

(4) Sacred Stance

Was extremely impressive in his heat running a great time with terrific sections of 5.07 and 10.98. He seems happy to stay in the middle of the track in his races as he did mostly in his heat win so the draw may not be too bad. Add a rails runner in box three and a slower starter to his outside and he may get a chance to show his pace and challenge for the front.

If he is afforded a clean start, he is a big chance to take out the final based on his overall times.

(5) Superior Wallis

The Group 3 Ladbrokes Devonport Chase winner is the fastest qualifier for the final. He showed his dazzling mid-race speed to position second behind Ferdinand Boy after an early split of 5.20 he recorded 11.13 to the second mark. He then chased bravely in the home straight to rail through and take the win.

The concern here is the awkward draw combined with his limited box speed and a runner who headed straight for the fence a week ago on his outside.

(6) Do It

The Victorian chaser and Group 1 Adelaide Cup winner charged to the inside after the start knocking over a few runners on the way. This most likely affected his early section, and he recorded the equal slowest run of 5.22. He was still able to hold second spot entering the turn in the small field and railed strongly to win in an overall time of 26.06.

There isn’t a lot of speed drawn around him however he may need some luck getting to the fence from the same draw in this quality field.

(7) Keen

Began as well as he can in his heat with an early split of 5.18 before he was outpaced in the run to the turn. He received a clean run however and found the fence before the home straight and finished well, chasing hard to grab the win.

He has a difficult draw and lacks some speed to the bend which may see him in the back half of the field, and it would be very hard to win this race from there.

(8) Ferdinand Boy

Was finally able to find the front at his fourth Tasmanian start and the result was a terrific run, the second fastest of the eight finalists. He was the fastest chaser from the heats through the first and second sections and looks a great chance to repeat that effort from the outside draw with no great speed to his inside.

If he can get across the field and lead through the bend, he may be very tough to run down based on his heat effort.

SELECTIONS

1st – (8) Ferdinand Boy

2nd – (4) Sacred Stance

3rd – (1) Aussie Secret

BETTING STRATEGY

BACK (WIN) — Ferdinand Boy for 1 unit

BACK (WIN) — Sacred Stance for 1 unit
