EXPERT RACING TIPS: BALLARAT

BALLARAT PREVIEW & TIPS | Expert Tips | TUESDAY THE 16TH

RAIL: True | TRACK: Good 4

The inside 5m of the track hasn’t been used over the past three meetings so expect that ground is the place to be, especially early in the program.

LAY: 5. Struggle Street (WIN) for 2 unit(s) (Rated at: $7)

I expect this stacks up to be a well above average five-horse Tuesday maiden. I’m against Struggle Street at the price, although she appears to have ability, she has missed the start badly at her last two jumpouts and she wouldn’t want to be giving the two talented favourites a start.

Vanishing was trialling up in Sydney before coming down to Victoria with a very impressive Flemington jumpout victory and the latest jumpout where she performed well again, expect her to be very forward for this. Sakowin has only had the one trial returning from her 116-day break but she put a space on her rivals.

BACK: 3. King’s Capital (WIN) for 4 unit(s) (Rated at: $1.75)

Only positives for King’s Capital, who sat on a fast speed first-up off a 295-day spell at Pakenham and was beaten by Rock The Bar, who was well backed in the Metro’s next start, they gapped third. He improved his rating winning at Geelong last start, he maps well here and appears very hard to beat.

Interested what the late market does with him, he was 2.04 out to 2.86 in the last 10 minutes of betting on the exchange last start before being crunched back in to a BSP of 2.17

RACE 2 | SELECTIONS

9. Sunny Disposition
3. Cascade Mountain
4. Iceberry
7. Rebellious Hope

Betting Strategy

NO BET.

A really tricky race to make heads or tails of, I’d imagine the late market will be your best guide for trying to work out a winner.

RACE 3 | SELECTIONS

3. Infringement
10. Usk Valley
5. Khant Bee
4. Jimmy

Betting Strategy

NO BET.

Infringement put up a rating first-up that goes close here but no edge at the price for me.

RACE 4 | SELECTIONS

5. Keefy’s Bro
7. Bad Girl Bubbles
8. Casa Helena
1. Mr Jones

Betting Strategy

NO BET.

Another race where the late Betfair market will be best guide, I have a hard time working out M.Raymond first starters.

RACE 5 | SELECTIONS

5. Miss Sunshine
4. Tequila Storm
3. Frose
6. Romantic Choice

Betting Strategy

NO BET.

Miss Sunshine was backed for a stack first-up and bolted in, Tequila Storm put up a last start rating that will rival her.

RACE 6 | SELECTIONS

4. Persian Spirit
3. Mambo Dancer
2. Sutadamu
9. Nuts ‘n’ Bolts

Betting Strategy

NO BET.

Persian Spirit was given little chance versus pattern of the day and race shape first-up, entitled to be warm favourite off his closing splits but he may find himself with map troubles again in this race.

RACE 7 | SELECTIONS

2. Whakamana
1. Vivideel
8. Stardom Awaayts
3. Angel

Betting Strategy

NO BET.

No opinion.

When you place a lay bet, you are betting on something not to happen. Let’s think about the Melbourne Cup again. Remember: there can only be one winner. But what about the others trailing behind them? If you place a lay bet in a “Win” market, you can celebrate if the runner tails off at the back of the field.
