Shortlist – Saturday 6th January 2018 – Chepstow

Coral Download The App Maiden Hurdle (4) 2m3f100y – 11:30pm

TImeform Ratings of Previous Winners:  162 144 – 154 (Avg 153)

Betting Forecast:

$4 Jammin Masters, 6 Jaunty Flyer, 7.5 Just Don’t Ask, 8 The Sweeney, 10 Subcontinent, 11 Diablo de Rouhet, 21 Hillary View, 34 Cadeyrn, 41 Atomic Rumble, 51 Frankly Speaking, 51 Hugo’s Reflection, 67 Sartene’s Son, 101 Golden Sandstorm, 101 One Leader, 126 Jimmy Bell, 301 Celer Et Audax

Analyst’s Verdict:

Having offered plenty to work on when second in a brace of hunter chases in Ireland, Jammin Masters again found only one too good for his new yard on hurdling bow at Wetherby in November, and is selected to go one better. The Sweeney, Jaunty Flyer and Just Don’t Ask head the list of dangers in that order.

Coral Yourcall Chase (Novices’ Limited Handicap) (3) 2m7f131y – 12:00am

Timeform Ratings of Previous Winners:

Betting Forecast:

$3.75 Socksy, 4 Pure Vision, 5.5 Scotchtown, 6.5 Another Venture, 11 Surtee du Berlais, 12 Souriyan

Analyst’s Verdict:

Pure Vision was a faller on his chasing debut but was clearly none the worse for that when scoring at Ffos Las in November and almost certainly has more to offer in this sphere. Scotchtown and Socksy are other progressive types that need considering, too.

Coral Future Champions Finale Juvenile Hurdle (Grade 1) (1) 2m11y – 12:35am

Timeform Ratings of Previous Winners: 150 165 162 151 168 (Avg 159)

Betting Forecast:

$ 2.25 We Have A Dream, 4 Sussex Ranger, 4.5 Famous Milly, 8 Mercenaire, 101 Staff College

Analyst’s Verdict:

We Have A Dream couldn’t have been much more impressive when bolting up in a Doncaster Grade 2 and will likely be tough to be beat if coping with the very testing ground. Famous Milly is one who certainly won’t be fazed by conditions and gets the vote for the forecast spot ahead of Sussex Ranger.

Coral Welsh Grand National Handicap Chase (Grade 3) (1) 3m5f110y – 1:05am

TImeform Ratings of Previous Winners:

Betting Forecast:

$ 6.5 Wild West Wind, 11 Ask The Weatherman, 12 Beware The Bear, 12 Mysteree, 13 Chase The Spud, 15 Bishops Road, 15 Vicente, 17 Vintage Clouds, 21 Final Nudge, 23 Pobbles Bay, 23 Raz de Maree, 26 Emperor’s Choice, 29 Buckhorn Timothy, 29 Milansbar, 34 Alfie Spinner, 41 O’Faolains Boy, 41 Silsol, 51 Firebird Flyer, 51 On The Road, 51 Rathlin Rose

Analyst’s Verdict:

In a typically competitive renewal it might be worth chancing Bishops Road to enhance the Lee family’s excellent recent record in this race. This 10y-o was a good second to the reopposing Beware The Bear on his return and races off the same mark as when landing a valuable event on heavy ground at Haydock 2 years ago. Wild West Wind, Mysteree, Final Nudge and Vicente head the many dangers.

Coral Bet 5 Get 20 Handicap Hurdle (2) 2m7f131y – 1:45am

Timeform Ratings of Previous Winners:

Betting Forecast:

$5 Eminent Poet, 6 Flemcara, 8 Shantou Bob, 9 Kris Spin, 10 Battle of Ideas, 13 Chef d’Oeuvre, 13 Driftwood Haze, 15 Court Frontier, 15 Zeroeshadesofgrey, 29 Late Shipment

Analyst’s Verdict:

Last year’s winner Shantou Bob took a step back in the right direction when fourth at Cheltenham last month, and with a good-value claimer taking off a valuable 7 lb, he could be the answer. Flemcara chases a hat-trick and has to be feared, with mudlark Eminent Poet another to consider.

Coral Bet And Get Club Handicap Chase (2) 2m3f98y – 2:20am

Timeform Ratings of Previous Winners:

Betting Forecast:

$4 Play The Ace, 4.5 Rock On Rocky, 5.5 Grey Gold, 8 Kayf Adventure, 9.5 Ballinvarrig, 12 Templehills, 17 Pressurize

Analyst’s Verdict:

Play The Ace keeps going from strength to strength, proving one of the toughest and most progressive handicappers around this season, and is taken to keep his winning sequence going. Rock On Rocky is next best ahead of Grey Gold.

Coral Best Price Guaranteed Standard Open National Hunt Flat (5) 2m11y – 2:55am

Timeforme Ratings of Previous Winners: 113 121 123 121 116 (Avg 119)

Betting Forecast:

$3 Good Boy Bobby, 4 Gwalia, 5.5 Mount Rushmoore, 7.5 Equus Flight, 13 Cul de Poule, 26 Big Fred, 81 Mister Rainman, 101 Court Duty

Analyst’s Verdict:

Good Boy Bobby took care of 15 rivals on his debut in a C&D contest in November and on that evidence is capable of conceding 7 lb all round. Gwalia offered plenty to work on starting out at Taunton and this stiffer test will suit, with point-scorer Mount Rushmoor another to note.
