Track: Good 3
Race 1: 1100m Open 2YO Set Weights plus Penalties
A small field of seven runners line up with a speedy Gai Waterhouse Filly on debut holding the key to this race.
With the rail in the +6m position at Rosehill it will prove advantageous to be up on speed or taking inside runs. Wide will be a no go zone.
Ajani: The Snowden’s 2YO Colt ran fourth on debut at this track however it was a monster run. Trapped 3 wide at Rosehill is never a good thing and he finished off strongly despite the tough run. He has good tactical speed and the wide barrier was the reason it had to get so far back last start.
Syrah: This Godolphin colt trialled back in September and was left flat footed in a strongly run trial taken out by eventual Metro winner Star Turn. He returned mid December and in a slowly run trial went to the line under a nice grip. I wont be letting that latest trial fool me, we can gain more from the first trial which was run at a strong tempo.
Cudabeen: She trialled nicely before coming out and winning on debut at Kembla. A nice solid effort that day, although the form around her only proved to be average.
Scarlet Rain: The short priced favourite in early markets won a 740m trial in ‘impressive style’. However, a 740m dash is a lot different to race day and I’ll be taking her on despite the advantage she will receive with todays track + rail configuration.
Scarlet Rain will lead and look very hard to beat at the 200m, however AJANI will be strongest late and I think will get her on the line.
