Speed Map

Should be an intriguing race tactically for the two year olds. The way that Our Euphoria led and weakened suggests to me that she may have a look for the lead and be handing up, presumably to Doalittlerocknroll. If she does everything right I can see her in front, Our Euphoria the leaders back, and The Royal Lady three back the pegs.

Being over the mile, it will be hard for the fancied runner Aqueensomewhere to do anything but go forward and with pulling machine Betshes Precious likely going forward as well, the speed may be on. Gary Hall Junior on Red Hot Roxy may be the beneficiary sitting back but we know that’s not ideal around this circuit.

Major Players

1. The Royal Lady: She started big odds in the heat when drawn off the track. She was snagged back to last, there were no moves until 400m to go and she circled them 4 wide to finish best of the run on horses.  Running on from last to 2nd very impressively. Most likely to get a gun run on the fence here and looks a great place chance.

3. Doalittlerocknroll: Started favourite in her heat, was vying for the lead when she jumped it off and galloped at the first turn. She lost considerable ground and chased hard to tack on, got a cart up three wide for the last lap and still had the audacity to come 4 wide approaching the straight. Expecting big improvement here provided she doesn’t gallop.

4. Beach Goddess: Not sure what her options will be at the start, but she did enough winning her heat when facing the breeze 3 wide the last lap to come away late. Was the beneficiary of the favourite galloping early in that heat. Looks tested from the draw and the way the map will pan out.

6. Aqueensomewhere: Very impressive in her heat win when she sat one out one back, eased 3 wide down the back and went past the leader untouched. Was home in 58.5 on wet day when giving the leader 8m at the bell (final lap). Impressive win.

8. Betshes Precious: Has gate speed and in her heat was inclined to pull hard when working forward. Wasn’t knocked around in front but they got home in only 62.7, hard to see her having the speed to win this.

9. Red Hot Roxy: Started unbelievably short in her heat, showed good speed to lead then handed up when the horse in the death seat was pulling hard. Never got a crack at them in the straight but at the same time not sure how well it was going. Hall Jr back on a plus, will have to be driven for luck or wide all the way?

Speed Map

Throwing a spanner in the works here and saying that Gary Hall Jr will come off the gate here with Allmightyjoelouis. He has only been fairly away at two career starts, and all the speed looks to be drawn outside him. The Real Ideal was impressive last start leading (almost got crossed) from the pole and had it easy.

He will probably come to the death seat here and can’t imagine he would want to give it up. The likes of Itz Dynamo and Sergeant Oats are going to be forced to go back early or sit wide. Of course there are other scenarios but that’s my opinion here, Gary Hall Jr to take advantage of the draw.

Major Players

3. The Beachcomber: Worked to the death seat in his heat and they absolutely walked the first half in 66.6. Surged past the leader on the side and they only got home in 58.9? Hard to have off that performance in this.

4. Allmightyjoelouis: Sat last in his heat, came 3 wide at the bell, last half in 59 from last. Sprinted very quickly from last to put the nose in front at the top turn. They came well away from the rest into the straight. Has good speed.

5. The Real Ideal: Had the pole draw in his heat and was threatened to not holding the lead before kicking up at the 1st turn. Was in cruise control after that, doubt he will lead here so looks a good lay.

6. Itz Dynamo: Started a short priced favourite in his heat when hopping and skipping early before finally breaking. He got down quickly, maneuvered into the running line and had every chance thereafter. The run home time was not strong after walking early, hard to see where he can position up to win this?

7. Sergeant Oats: Almost crossed at the start when drawn the two in the heat. Was forced to sit outside the favourite and was no match when it quickened in the last quarter. Hard to see a speed map where he lobs a favourable spot.
