Good edition of the Aurie’s Star in 2017. Three of the past four years have been won by horses carrying lighter weights of around 54 kgs. Hey Doc and I Am A Star are up against it from a weights perspective and would have bigger goals down the track. The two horses of interest are Snitzson and Cannyescent. Both from the Hayes and Dabernig yard. Snitzson’s run in the Gr 1 at level weights was enormous to Hey Doc and meets him 5kgs better here. At the price that’s good enough alone. Cannyescent reminds me of 2015 winner Shiraz, in that it has been winning consistently, being able to carry big weights and win by good margins. A nice freshen up for this. Backing Cannyescent and Snitzson each way.
Confidence Level: Medium
BACK (WIN) Cannyescent
BACK (E/W) Snitzson
