On Course Bookmakers’ LAY Nominations, Saturday 18th March 2017

Every week at Betfair, On Course Bookmakers from across the country will be nominating their LAY of the week.

Get the latest LAY nominations for Saturday 18th March below.

JOHNATHON WALSH (VIC)

Flemington – Race 2 #3 Theanswermyfriend

Walsh Says: “Theanswermyfriend has drawn wide and will have to work across the speedy horses drawn on the rail to lead. The race mixes a number of form lines with the talent o the Hayes horse unknown and capable of further improvement. With the Flemington track copping mixed reviews from the media over the last few weeks it could be expected that the run on horses might have a better show this week. Taking all this into consideration, Theanswermyfriend being close to even money I will be putting him in and hoping for the swoopers to grow wings in the final furlong.”

RAY SWANNIE (VIC)

Flemington – Race 2 #3 Theanswermyfriend

Swannie Says: “Every chance last start in the leader bias track and this race looks much harder. Plenty of speed engaged so happy to lay at close to even money from a wide draw. ”

NORM OKE (VIC)

Flemington – Race 6 #1 Hursley

Oke Says: “Unlucky last week in a stronger race and rising to a distance that suits. My issue is the big rise in weight with 61kg’s on his back. Usually like horses on the quick back up but at $3.20 I’m willing to risk him.”

KEVIN SABER (VIC)

Flemington – Race 6 #1 Hursley

Saber Says: “Up 7kg from the outside barrier with several other promising horses engaged. Big watch on Wheal Leisure from the up and coming Archie Alexander stable. $3.20 looks rock bottom.”

CURLY SEAL (SA)

Morphettville – Race 2 #7 Two Odd Sox

Seal Says: “Is a ‘get back’ runner that has placed only once in eight starts. Staggering he’s come up race favourite at $2.70 and will be laying with confidence.”

PETER McCORMACK (WA)

Ascot – Race 2 #2 Veuve De Vaga

McCormack Says: “Rand a good second in 3yo listed company two starts ago and then was run down later over 1600m by a handy ‘mid-weeker‘ in restricted grade. Either he isn’t genuine or he doesn’t relish the 1600m. Either way he will struggle against some handy 3yo’s here.”

STEVE WALTERS (TAS)

Morphettville – Race 7 #12 Arleigh

Walters Says: “The filly looks to have the task up against her from barrier 11, which will force her along way out of her ground. Despite a strong finish a can’t have her near $4.00.”

BARRY COOK (NSW)

Rosehill – Race 6 #5 Comin’ Though (PLACE)

Cook Says: “Not convinced he’s come up as well this time in and he’s obviously not coping as well on heavy rated tracks. In a field full of improvers, we are keen to lay him the place.”

DAVID DWYER (NSW)

Rosehill – Race 4 #1 Hartnell

Dwyer Says: “He is a fantastic horse but he was beaten nine lengths last start on a heavy track. Lines up here against a good 2000m field, many of whom have great wet track form as well. He’s the best horse but at even money I am happy to lay as he did only beat home two horses last start. ”
