Betfair punters are able to diversify their betting with the Betfair Starting Price Index. Instead of simply Backing & Laying runners in a race, traders can Back & Lay on the BSP Index Market allowing them to take a position on the aggregate BSP value of all winners.
What is a ‘Betfair Starting Price Index’?
A BSP Index is the aggregate value of the BSP (Betfair Starting Price) of all winners over a pre-determined number of races. For example, the BSP Index at a 9 Race Card at Flemington would be the combined number of all 9 BSP winner prices after the end of the last race.

UNDER 98.5 – “We are presented with a 10 race card where the form is all but known apart from Race 1. I’ll be waiting to get involved in the market until after the first where I feel we will have a clear advantage to land the unders with a Race 1 price of $10 or less. While I think we will have some competitive races with several runners winning over the $ mark, I can’t see more than two races on the card where runners over the $20 mark can salute. I’m confident and will be betting strongly on the Unders.”

UNDER 98.5 – “Good Luck in the Merson Cooper but early money suggests that Kedleston will run a big race. I think Stratum Star is the value in race two but very respectful of Redkirk Warrior. Qewy looks close to ‘good thing’ in the Sandown Cup and race four looks O’Malley’s to lose. The Twilight Glow looks difficult outside Prompt Response, this is the Knockout race if there’s going to be one. Morton’s Fork will get every favour in the Guineas and the Zipping Classic looks even, the safe play is laying Who Shot Thebarman. Keen to bet around Lucky Hussler and Under The Louvre in the Kevin Heffernan and siding with Tuchanchoo from Alaskan Rose in the Eclipse Stakes. Silent Sedition is an improving mare and she appeals despite a wide draw. ”
