BSP Index

Betfair punters are able to diversify their betting with the Betfair Starting Price Index. Instead of simply Backing & Laying runners in a race, traders can Back & Lay on the BSP Index Market allowing them to take a position on the aggregate BSP value of all winners.

What is a ‘Betfair Starting Price Index’?

A BSP Index is the aggregate value of the BSP (Betfair Starting Price) of all winners over a pre-determined number of races. For example, the BSP Index at a 9 Race Card at Flemington would be the combined number of all 9 BSP winner prices after the end of the last race.

Tips From The Experts

The Profits – @TheProfitsComAu

OVER 99.5 – “Expecting a few favourites to get on top early but I’m confident in the fact that at least five of the last eight races will deliver double figure BSP winners. Unlike the past two weeks, there are several runners on the card that appear to have chances around the $30-$50 price range mark that can blow the total out of the water.”

The Betfair Insider – @Betfair_Aus

OVER 99.5 – “Happy to take on Kaniana and Raw Impulse as favourites early. No strong opinion in race three but thought Vostok would be hard to beat in the fourth. O’Malley and Sheidel look the biggest dangers to Heatherly, I’m very disappointed Chloe In Paris has been saved for the Moir Stakes. Race Six appeals as a ‘result’ race, whilst it’s hard not to be with Voodoo Lad, Keen Array and others in the market in the listed 1200m event. The Dato is a great renewal, Will Ciaron Maher’s runners savage the line or sprout like stayers sometimes do? Tosen Stardom is the X-Factor. Happy to lay the favourites in the last with a big betting watch on the three Lloyd Williams runners.”

UNDER 99.5  – “The line seems generous to me.  The rail is out 3m at the Valley which should give leading horses every chance and will suit Heatherly.  I also think Raw Impulse will win on class and if I’m correct, these two results will go a long way in getting the ‘unders’ home. It would be nice to have a decent buffer coming into races eight and nine as these races look the most likely to throw up a winner at big odds!

Trevor Lawson – @championpicks

UNDER 99.5 – “Happy to oppose Kaniana at a short quote. Raw Impulse looks a class above them in the Craig Opie Cup.  Race 3 looks a wide open race with plenty of chances. Race 4 Moss ‘n’ Dale and Vostok look hard to hold out, with a big gap to rest. In the McEwen Stakes I feel that Heatherly has class edge on field. Anything can win the Atlantic Jewel Stakes. Voodoo Lad will be hard to beat but beyond him it’s wide open. The ‘Dato’ will be dominated by those hard in the market as will the last race.”
