Betfair punters are able to diversify their betting with the Betfair Starting Price Index. Instead of simply Backing & Laying runners in a race, traders can Back & Lay on the BSP Index Market allowing them to take a position on the aggregate BSP value of all winners.
What is a ‘Betfair Starting Price Index’?
A BSP Index is the aggregate value of the BSP (Betfair Starting Price) of all winners over a pre-determined number of races. For example, the BSP Index at a 9 Race Card at Flemington would be the combined number of all 9 BSP winner prices after the end of the last race.

UNDER 88.5 – “Another week, another #TeamUnders bet. Overall this is a very tricky card with several runners with significant chances in each race. Looking deeper into each race (excluding the first obviously), the main hopes all seem to be priced correctly in the single figures and even with giving the first half of the card a strong start of 50-60 points, it’s hard to see where the blowout in the last few legs will come from. More than happy to have a medium sized bet on the Unders.”

UNDER 88.5 – “ Tough start with little exposed form so keen to side with the Tony McEvoy trained Azazel & Miss Wahoo who both worked well at The Valley on Tuesday morning. In race two O’Malley will be hard to beat on the minimum, he’s a group horse when right. Anything is possible in the Crockett Stakes but Ken’s Dream should balance the Index back out by race 4. The Tesio Stakes looks a four horse race between Lady Le Fay, Antelucan, Metaphorical & Alaskan Rose. Beyond I Am A Star numbers 2 3 & 7 look the dangers in the Fillies Classic. Keen to lay The United States as favourite and believe there’s five winning chances beyond him. Gallante has the right form to win the Moonee Valley Cup but Second Wave could be best advantaged at the weights. The Cox Plate is between Hartnell & Winx, tactics and track condition will be everything. In the Vase I’m confident the winner will come from So Si Bon or Sacred Elixir, both should excel out to 2040m.’”

UNDER 88.5 – “Race 1 plenty of unknowns Race 2. Felines hard to beat, O’Malley will be charging late. Race 3 plenty of chances with a chance of a blowout. Race 4 only four possible chances with all in the market. Race 5 happy to oppose Lady la Fe at the short odds from an inside draw. Same situation in Race 6 with an inside draw for the favourite, only dangers seem well found. Like 5 Royal Rapture to win Race 7. Race 9 Winx or Hartnell, not much between them, should be a great race. Race 10 Hard to see something outside the market winning.”
