BSP Index

Betfair punters are able to diversify their betting with the Betfair Starting Price Index. Instead of simply Backing & Laying runners in a race, traders can Back & Lay on the BSP Index Market allowing them to take a position on the aggregate BSP value of all winners.

What is a ‘Betfair Starting Price Index’?

A BSP Index is the aggregate value of the BSP (Betfair Starting Price) of all winners over a pre-determined number of races. For example, the BSP Index at a 9 Race Card at Flemington would be the combined number of all 9 BSP winner prices after the end of the last race.

UNDER 102.5 – “This looks a perfect day for the unders to salute after the overs recorded a record high number on Thursday with the Oaks winner blowing the unders away in one race. Accounting for several races to record double figure odds winners throughout the day, it will take a horse like Happy Trails to get up to keep us from collecting on the unders today. Confidence levels are high.”

OVER 102.5 – “Typically hard 2yo race to begin, I’ve come up with Tarima and Resin as best of the raced. Outside that? Guessing… I have a big market watch on Little White Cloud in race two and respect Kilmacurragh but again not playing the race with confidence. The Queen Elizabeth will be won be either Francis Of Assisi or Vengeur Masque. I’ve marked Verstappen slight favourite over Niccolance. Inside Agent and Valliano look the knockouts. Mabeel will be hard to beat in Race 5 with a watch on the Mick Kent trained Coldstone. The Matriarch Stakes looks even outside Lady Le Fay and Denmagic. Take them out and a blowout result is possible. The Emirates Stakes shapes as a great race. Malaguerra will be in the right spot to win the Darley Classic. Spieth is the improver but can be slowly away which may prove costly at G1 level. Keen to lay Demonstrate on the quick back up as favourite.”

UNDER 102.5  – “Race 1 nothing known,In race 2 keen on the bottom 2 Curragh and Kilmacurragh. Looks only two hopes in Queen Elizabeth, Francis of Assisi and Tom Melbourne. Big Field in Race 4, but Favourite Niccolance has clear class edge on rivals. Race 5 is wide open race. Market seems fairly accurate in the Matriach Stakess. Keen on Vadamos in Emirates. Hard to see something out of market winning Race 8. Demonstrate and Ulmann look slight risks in Race 9.”
