BSP Index

Betfair punters are able to diversify their betting with the Betfair Starting Price Index. Instead of simply Backing & Laying runners in a race, traders can Back & Lay on the BSP Index Market allowing them to take a position on the aggregate BSP value of all winners.

What is a ‘Betfair Starting Price Index’?

A BSP Index is the aggregate value of the BSP (Betfair Starting Price) of all winners over a pre-determined number of races. For example, the BSP Index at a 9 Race Card at Flemington would be the combined number of all 9 BSP winner prices after the end of the last race.

Tips From The Experts

The Profits – @TheProfitsComAu

OVER 121.5 – “Caulfield is going to play very tricky today with a Soft track on the cards with the inside ground expected to deteriorate significantly throughout the day, forcing horses wide and causing hard luck stories. I’m expecting Overs to be in a good position after Race 5 with several strong double figure chances to start the day. I’m also happy to take on a few of the favourites late in the day and expect at least one big odds winner at $30 BSP or over.”

UNDER 121.5 – “There’s a big wrap on the Kiwi Shillelagh but outside her it looks a raffle, I have a big market watch on Cauthen coming off a long break. In race two Barthelona looks a professional and can overcome a wide alley. Inside Agent bares close attention also. Race 3 looks impossible whilst Miss Gunpowder gets the perfect set up in Race 4 with the barrier blanket for the first time. Antelucan and Miss Softhands look the next best value. Race 5 doesn’t appeal, it strikes me as a watch and learn race for horses looking for 2000m+. Secret Agenda looks very hard to beat in the How Now as does Keen Array in the Testa Rossa stakes. Race 8 is the Naturalism and I’m confident the winner is between Jameka and Tom Melbourne. He’s Our Rokkii is the best horse in race nine but might find traffic. The last looks very difficult so happy to bet outside the market with Foundry and Tarquin without supreme confidence. Banking on under 121.5 with most confidence in Races 6, 7 and 8.”

UNDER 121.5  – “In recent years this meeting’s race have run straight and today looks like that will happen again. Although the fields are large and there are no real short favourites the majority of chances in races are well in the market. The races that look like they could throw a result to my eye are Races 3 & 4. Unfortunately it’s another week for the unders!”

Trevor Lawson – @championpicks

UNDER 121.5 – “Race 1 open affair, Race 2 chances are Dissolute and Barthelona. Race 3 wide open race. Race 4 favourites seem well found, chance for a result. Races 6 and 7 should be fought by the fav’s. Races 8 and 9 even affairs with plenty of chances but majority in the market. Race 10 a raffle.”
