Bookies’ Bag: On Course Bookmakers’ LAY Nominations Saturday 7th May

Posted: May 6, 2016

Every week at Betfair, On Course Bookmakers from across the country will be nominating their LAY of the week.

Get the latest LAY nominations for Saturday 7th May below.

JONATHAN WALSH (VIC)

Flemington Race 5 – #7 Supido

Walsh Says: “He’s a serious talent but has come up well in the red. There’s more early pace in this event and much more seasoned gallopers. No doubt he can win but he’s a risk at the price with $2.00 likely to be bet closer to start time.”

RAY SWANNIE (VIC)

Flemington Race 1 – #1 Merriest

Swannie Says: “Has come up a very short quote meeting a stronger field racing up the Flemington straight for the first time. A few of her competitors have trialled impressively and I’ll be taking her on at the even money quote.”

NORM OKE (VIC)

Flemington Race 4 – #3 My Bantry Bay

Oke Says: “Has drawn wide and will be forced to work early to take up a good position. There’s a big chance he’ll now want further than 2000m and this race has multiple winning chances.”

KEVIN SABER (VIC)

Flemington Race 2 – #8 Rib Eye

Saber Says: “Impossible to back at the price after a great weeks racing at ‘The Bool’! Comes here with a 67 rating into Open class, stepping out to 1800m. Has a 3kg claim with an inform jockey but keen to get stuck into it.”

CURLY SEAL (SA)

Morphettville Race 3 – #4 Tris

Seal Says: “Looks a tougher race this time with plenty of speed drawn to her outside that will look to take her on. Dropping back in distance is another negative and at $2.50 she represents no value. Big Risk.”

TREVOR BURROWS (WA)

Belmont Race 4 – #2 Hedlander Boy

Burrows Says: “This runner accounted for a field of some of the worst performed horses to ever run in the city last start. This is a much deeper race and if the corporate bookies think they will lay it at $3.50 or less they are kidding themselves.”

STEVE WALTERS (TAS)

Morphettville Race 1 – #3 Killarney Kid

Walters Says: “Might have reached his peak and will be spotting the leaders a fair start on straightening. Great risk at even money and will be a bigger price In-Play.”

BARRY COOK (NSW)

Rosehill Race 5 – #1 Sir Bacchus

Cook Says: “Impressive winner first up at this venue but doesn’t look value in this event at around $3.40 in early betting. He’s got 59kg after the claim against a strong field of sprinters as he’s likely to be buried back along the fence from his inside draw.”

DAVID DWYER (NSW)

Rosehill Race 5 – #1 Sir Bacchus

Dwyer Says: “Had every favour in running last start and got a dream spilt in the home straight. Looking at the speed map he will need similar luck this time in against a field of horses with four last start winners.”
