Bookies’ Bag: On Course Bookmakers’ LAY Nominations Saturday 29th October

Posted: October 28, 2016 at 9:30 am

Every week at Betfair, On Course Bookmakers from across the country will be nominating their LAY of the week.

Get the latest LAY nominations for Saturday 29th October below.

JOHNATHON WALSH (VIC)

Flemington Race 7 – #1 Sacred Elixir

Walsh Says: “Has come up $3.00 in a capacity field and today’s is Grand Final for all 3yo colts and geldings. There will be more pressure on today and barrier one may not be of advantage to the horse. Happy to lay.”

RAY SWANNIE (VIC)

Flemington Race 5 – #2 Extreme Choice

Swannie Says: “Drawn inside and may have traffic problems with the main danger Astern (barrier 8) storming down the outside in clear running. The Sydney form has been superior to Melbourne all carnival so I expect it to continue here.”

NORM OKE (VIC)

Flemington Race 7 – #1 Sacred Elixir

Oke Says: “Everyone is saying he’s across the line off his vase run but I’m not convinced it was the solid hit up he needed coming into the Derby. There’s also a chance he won’t run the trip out so at the price I’ll be taking him on.”

KEVIN SABER (VIC)

Flemington Race 7 – #1 Sacred Elixir

Saber Says: “Very green and looks a big risk at the price. I wasn’t overly impressed by his last start win in the Vase and the sectional times backed up what I saw.”

CURLY SEAL (SA)

Morphettville Race 3 – #4 Kifaah

Seal Says: “Disappointing last run when he had every possible chance. This looks no easier and despite being off a two week break as opposed to three, I don’t think he’s value at even money ($2).”

PETER McCORMACK (WA)

Ascot Race 6 – #5 Vega Magic

McCormack Says: “Hasn’t yet earned the right to start a dominant favourite at Weight-For-Age level. Coming out of fairly soft restricted grade races with an apprentice who can’t claim his allowance. The picket fence next to his name looks appealing and he shows great potential, but Rock Magic, First Among Equals & Battle Hero have the score on the board and deserve far greater respect than what’s reflected in early betting. ”

STEVE WALTERS (TAS)

Morphettville Race 8 – #3 Call Me Curtis

Walters Says: “I have him mapping well back and can see him having plenty of trouble getting over the top of field off a slow tempo with front runners advantaged. The favourite in the last race can often run shorter than it should so we should be able to lay it well under the odds.”

BARRY COOK (NSW)

Rosehill Race 2 – #3 Ozark

Cook Says: “Big rise in class here and we’ve rated it double figure odds (early market $4.50). Despite the Godolphin stable being in good form of late we feel there’s good opportunity in laying them, as often they can be over-bet”

DAVID DWYER (NSW)

Rosehill Race 2 – #7 Il Riccio

Dwyer Says: “Won at Ipswich by 10 lengths and looked fantastic. It’s up against Sydney mid-week winners here and will need to be one out of the box to win. Happy to lay at $3.00.”
