Bookies’ Bag: On Course Bookmakers’ LAY Nominations Saturday 17th September

Every week at Betfair, On Course Bookmakers from across the country will be nominating their LAY of the week.

Get the latest LAY nominations for Saturday 17th September below.

JONATHAN WALSH (VIC)

Morphettville Race 6 – #2 Illustrious Lad

Walsh Says: “Travels to Adelaide first up and will race on a heavy 10 for the first time in his career. Being a get back run on horse he may not get to use the best part of the track at this time in the day. Is talented but given the quality of opposition and track conditions I’ll be laying him $2.80.”

RAY SWANNIE (VIC)

Caulfield Race 7 – #4 Keen Array

Swannie Says: “Flattering run last time when the leaders went to hard at Moonee Valley. His last win was six starts ago and looks under the odds at $3.80 in this event.”

NORM OKE (VIC)

Caulfield Race 8 – #13 Tom Melbourne

Oke Says: “Looks a very deep race on paper and I’m surprised he comes here 2nd up facing some classier gallopers that are deeper into their preparations. He’s a great lay at $4.40 in early markets.”

KEVIN SABER (VIC)

Caulfield Race 8 – #13 Tom Melbourne

Saber Says: “Like his performance first up but couldn’t hold off a hard fit runner. This looks as strong a naturalism as I can remember for quite some time. He’ll be on speed again and could be vulnerable late with horses coming from the Dato Tan Chin Nam looking more advantaged.”

CURLY SEAL (SA)

 Morphettville Race 6 – #2 Illustrious Lad

Seal Says: “Resumes on a heavy track and will find it hard giving these horses a big start given his running pattern. Looks no value whatsoever at $2.80.”

PETER MCCORMACK (WA)

Belmont Race 1 – #1 Lite’n In My Veins

McCormack Says: “Looks vulnerable at 1200m first up having to concede weight to some hardened opposition. His ‘grand final’ will be over a longer distance at Ascot in a few month’s time. I thought his trial was only fair on Monday and will struggle to run down the leaders on this occasion.”

 TREVOR BURROWS (WA)

Belmont Race 1 – #3 It’s It

Burrows Says: “Got the perfect ‘tow’ into the race when he accounted for Max Almighty a fortnight ago. He now meets that galloper 3kgs worse off as the result of a narrow victory. He’s looks vulnerable here and with William Pike on that equals unders.”

STEVE WALTERS (TAS)

Morphettville Race 3 – #2 Birds Of Tokyo

Walters Says: “Returns from one run in New South Wales to a wet track. This situation is far from ideal and with Michelle Payne aboard I expect it to short gross unders”

BARRY COOK (NSW)

Randwick Race 4 – #1 Foxplay

Cook Says: “Hugh Bowman gave her an absolute peach ride for the Waller in the Furious stakes last time. Not sure she gets everything to suit this time and there’s a handful of runners that look better value winning chances. She’ll be an easy horse to lay and we’ll keep it all in the bag.”

DAVID DWYER (NSW)

Randwick Race 4 – #1 Foxplay

Dwyer Says: “She started $8.50 in her lead up and was very impressive. $3.00 looks too short with Global Glamour, Skylight Glow and Quick Feet all improvers as we go from ‘wet to dry’. A good risk in a hard race.”
