Bookies’ Bag: On Course Bookmakers’ LAY Nominations Saturday 15th October

Posted: October 14, 2016

Every week at Betfair, On Course Bookmakers from across the country will be nominating their LAY of the week.

Get the latest LAY nominations for Saturday 15th October below.

JONATHAN WALSH (VIC)

Caulfield Race 2 – #7 Acatour

Walsh Says: “There’s a distinct lack of speed on paper which plays against this colt. His win last start was visually impressive but $2.50 looks short for a horse dropping back in distance. The Melbourne way of going can occasionally put these young Sydney horses on the wrong leg. Risking.”

RAY SWANNIE (VIC)

Caulfield Race 5 – #1 Seaburge

Swannie Says: “Likely to get back off the insider gate and looks a risk out to 2000m. Kerrin McEvoy replaces his regular rider and there’s four other winning chances here at better odds.”

NORM OKE (VIC)

Caulfield Race 8 – #11 Jameka

Oke Says: “Has come up extremely short in early betting when you look at how poorly Mares have performed in recent editions of the race. She has the Hartnell form but how much improvement does she have left? At the price I’m prepared to risk her.”

KEVIN SABER (VIC)

Morphettville Race 5 – #5 Kifaah

Saber Says: “Very short ($2.30) coming out of a restricted race at Caulfield and is three weeks between runs dropping back in distance. Must go in the bag.”

CURLY SEAL (SA)

Morphettville Race 1 – #3 Azurite

Seal Says: “Had every possible chance last time and this is no easier. No value at $3.60 and his last win was September 2014 in Europe.”

PETER MCCORMACK (WA)

Ascot Race 7 – #3 Perfect Reflection

McCormack Says: “Super mare unbeaten in five WA starts. She’s first up off a failure in the G1 Australian Guineas at Flemington and I love laying local horses after a last start failure from an east coast preparation. She’s up 7.5kg more than her win almost a year ago and $2.00 here is good laying. Lite’N In My Veins made a complete dill of me last start and could stamp himself as top shelf here. He looks overpriced in early markets”

STEVE WALTERS (TAS)

Randwick Race 2 – #4 Fabrizio

Walters Says: “After his ‘red line’ run in the Epsom handicap it’s very possible this horse races flat. Torgersen is an honest galloper capable of an upset.”

BARRY COOK (NSW)

Randwick Race 2 – #4 Fabrizio

Cook Says: “Looks a mile under the odds at $1.50. He didn’t settle in the Epsom and failed to finish off. We expected him to be sent to the paddock but here he is. There’s limited chances in the race but we have to oppose him at the price.”

DAVID DWYER (NSW)

Randwick Race 8 – #10 Egyptian Symbol

Dwyer Says: “She has a great fresh record and is the class runner of the field. She hasn’t won in her past seven starts and has drawn barrier nine in a strong field. We’re keen to lay her and think she’ll drift heavily.”
