Posted: January 13, 2017

Every week at Betfair, On Course Bookmakers from across the country will be nominating their LAY of the week.

Get the latest LAY nominations for Saturday 14th January below.

JOHNATHON WALSH (VIC)

Flemington Race 1 #3 Emptor

Walsh Says: “Has drawn the inside alley and will have to work to lead. Is top weight after claims and blinkers may be a negative. Happy to take it on as favourite.”

RAY SWANNIE (VIC)

Flemington – Race 2 #2 Honey Cara

Swannie Says: “She is flying but this is a tough ask, up in class up in weight and up against some good tough horses $3.10 is under the odds”

NORM OKE (VIC)

Flemington Race 2 #2 Honey Cara

Oke Says: “Looks short at $2.80 staying at 2000m for her third time now. Gets a claim but she is up in grade and has been up longer than the Eiffel tower.”

KEVIN SABER (VIC)

Gold Coast – Race 8 #11 Houtzen (PLACE)

Saber Says: “Drawn widest in Barrier 21, first time to 1200m and meeting much stronger opposition. Looks a great lay at around $1.90 to $2.00 to run top three.”

CURLY SEAL (SA)

Morphettville Race 1 #5 Balf’s Choice

Seal Says: “Up in distance which may or may not suit but it’s recent Melbourne form is only fair. Finds a tricky race whith some inform horses so is no value at $2.30.”

PETER McCORMACK (WA)

Ascot Race 1 #3 Antique Dream

McCormack Says: “Well credentialed, in the cerise and white ridden by William Pike ensuring that she starts firm in the market. I’m banking on her not staying the 2150m (this is her first attempt beyond 1800m). She’s yet to win beyond 1500m and is out of a Metal Storm mare who tend to perform best to a mile. I expect Kirov Boy will have them rolling from the 1200m turning this into a real staying test.”

STEVE WALTERS (TAS)

Randwick – Race 2 #4 Raiment

Walters Says: “Summer 3yo filly up against open age mares. History says it is always a big ask. Expecting strong support for Sangiovese who can position well and be the biggest danger to the favourite.”

BARRY COOK (NSW)

Randwick – Race 5 #7 Gold Ambition

Cook Says: “Up in grade but right down in the weights and can position forward. That said he’s one win from 17 starts and becoming a bit of a ‘non-winner’. At the price we’re happy to take him on again.”

DAVID DWYER (NSW)

Gold Coast – Race 8 #13 From Within

Dwyer Says: “Won a ‘nothing race’ at Canterbury on debut where everything was soft. Looks a massive risk at $4.00 in a stronger field and I’ll be taking it on.”
