Bookies’ Bag: On Course Bookmakers’ LAY Nominations Saturday 13th August

Posted: August 12, 2016

Every week at Betfair, On Course Bookmakers from across the country will be nominating their LAY of the week.

Get the latest LAY nominations for Saturday 13th August below.

JONATHAN WALSH (VIC)

Morphettville Race 2 – #4 Twin Tea Bags

Walsh Says: “Has come up under the odds after being beaten on its merits at Casterton last start in weaker company. The corporates are betting $4.00 or less which must be due to the horse being trained by Darren Weir.”

RAY SWANNIE (VIC)

Caulfield Race 1 – #6 O’Lonera

Swannie Says: “Is in good form but looks disadvantaged coming back to 2000m compared to other gallopers who are better suited by the shorter distance. Under the odds and should get bookies off to a flyer.”

NORM OKE (VIC)

Caulfield Race 5 – #5 Russian Revolution

Oke Says: “Always keen to risk Sydney horses at their first look at Caulfield close to even money. He’s fresh off a 7 week break and despite trailing ok, he’s yet to win on a good rated track.”

KEVIN SABER (VIC)

Caulfield Race 8 – #1 Fast’n’Rocking

Saber Says: “Was a victim of circumstances last time in the Bletchingly Stakes off a muddling tempo but there always seems to be an excuse. He’s $3.50 on the exchange, will get back in running and this looks a very deep listed race with class galloper Palentino resuming”

CURLY SEAL (SA)

Morphettville Race 1 – #3 Super Fund

Seal Says: “Has been up a long time (six starts) and meets Scratchy Lass worse at the weights after being beaten by her last time. Not sure how it’s come up favourite?”

PETER MCCORMACK (WA)

Belmont Race 4 – #5 Chantski

McCormack Says: “First up after 12 months with no trial after finishing last in its previous campaign. Rises 7.5kg on its last run and both Jockey and Trainer are out of form. A lay for me at $2.30”

TREVOR BURROWS (WA)

Belmont Race 3 – #2 Conseated

Burrows Says: “Had an easy time in front when it held them at bay in midweek company last start. Meets Furious Dame slightly worse off at the weights this time around and I’m prepared to take it on at $2.30 in early betting.”

STEVE WALTERS (TAS)

Belmont Race 5 – #5 Material Man

Walters Says: “Backmarker who is likely to find this harder with a slow tempo likely. $2.25 is rock bottom odds and like I said last week. It’s a great strategy to lay short priced runners in distance races with the ability to trade out In-Play.”

BARRY COOK (NSW)

Rosehill Race 5 – #1 Capitalist

Cook Says: “Returns to the scene of his Golden Slipper victory but will he be at his best on Saturday? There’s three genuine dangers to the star colt and with 60kg we’re happy to lay him at odds on given its not Grand Final day for him.”

DAVID DWYER (NSW)

Rosehill Race 5 – #1 Capitalist

Dwyer Says: “Will be evens in a small field of six giving 4kg to all other runners. All 5 opponents have won on slow tracks and he’s yet to start on one. He was the class 2yo but has he come back up? Golden Slipper winners have poor records when resuming. Bookie must take it on!”
