Group 1 Qualifiers Betting Strategy

Wentworth Park, Sydney: Saturday 22nd October

Race 5 – Vic Peters Semi Final 1

#3 Wicked Warrior

Looks a two dog race on paper with the advantage going to Wicked Warrior who ran a sizzling 29.80 in his heat, just over four lengths quicker than Clock’s Ticking. With a suitable draw he should be able to replicate the dose here to continue the recent good form of the Magri Kennel.

#2 Clock’s Ticking

I am happy to take a short quote on this runner placing. Drawn well, he’s shown reliable early speed and has a 78% strike rate at running a place throughout his career. I would be shocked if he missed a place.

Betting Strategy

Back on Betfair BACK (WIN) Wicked Warrior for 2 units at > $2.50

Back on Betfair BACK (PLACE) Clock’s Ticking for 2 units at > $1.60

Race 6 – Vic Peters Semi Final 2

#8 Ando’s Mac

He never looked like losing in the heats last week after a fast start. I am not bothered by the wide draw as he tends to run three or four off the rail and won’t be pressured by any outside chasers. Should have every chance to be in front by the winning post the first time around and prove too classy.

#2 Good Odds Bricky

I thought he was a great run here last week after he was bumped out of the boxes early which cost him some valuable lengths. He bounced left out of the boxes and looks well drawn to find a forward position and stick on well for a placing.

 Betting Strategy

Back on Betfair BACK (WIN) Ando’s Mac for 3 units at > $2.00

Back on Betfair BACK (PLACE) Good Odds Bricky for 1 unit at > $2.00

Race 7 – Vic Peters Semi Final 3

#1 Red Calibre

I thought she was a great run in the heat last week and showed courage to get as close as she did after being drawn unsuitably in the outside box. She finished the race very strongly and given she is now drawn inside Reviewer, I am confident she can turn the tables here.

#2 Reviewer

I just think he will be over bet here and this may present a good lay opportunity. He tends to step right out of the boxes and if Runway Bono and Centrico can show early pace they may come down on top of him and pressure him early. This may allow Red Calibre to pinch an unbeatable early break on him.

Betting Strategy

Back on Betfair BACK (WIN) Red Calibre for 3 units at > $3.30

Laying on Betfair LAY (WIN) Reviewer for 1 unit at < $2.30

Race 8 – Vic Peters Semi Final 4

#2 Benteke

He is probably the classiest and most seasoned chaser in this series. He has been racing in top company for several months now. I really like him drawn close to the rails against these rivals. He is capable of leading or settling just off the pace and railing through. He looks a great bet.

#3 Mack Tux

I thought he should have finished a lot closer in his heat last week. He landed in a promising position on the first turn and I thought he would end up winning the race from where he was. He followed the greyhound instead of the lure which sent him wide on the first turn. This doesn’t fill me with confidence backing this chaser going forward and I will be laying him confidently.

Betting Strategy

Back on Betfair BACK (WIN) Benteke for 4 units at > $2.00

Laying on Betfair LAY (PLACE) Mack Tux for 2 units at < $10.00
