Moonee Valley Markets R1 – 8

R1 MSC Signs BM90 | 1500m 6:30pm

A tricky rating with the favourite Mr Individual no doubt holding the ratings quality, but hard to find so short off a query last start and what looks a less than ideal set up here from barrier 1 with plenty of speed coming from the outside. Marwood and Plot The Course map well and have the ratings to challenge Mr Individual if he’s a little below his best.

Ken’s Dream holds a comfortable ratings advantage, but keen to look for signs in the betting market after a short break. I’d be concerned if he was very easy in betting.

Gun Case and Estaminet hold a clear advantage over the others here. Gun Case appeals as clearly the better value. Two of his last three runs are good enough to win this and he should land in an ideal trailing position behind the early speed. Estaminet flew first up last time over this T&D and will be hard to beat again, but did land in an ideal position without doing much work at all on that night and may have to do more here from a wider draw.

Race Confidence: Good

R5 Strathmore Commonweath Bank Stutt Stakes | 1600m | 8:30pm

Kaching is a promising colt on the way up with a last start rating behind Harlow Gold that is super competitive here. He has blinkers on here and by this time of the night the track should be suiting his style of settling back and running on around the outside. Inference is also promising but hard to find as any value off the back of a synthetic track run and back to turf.

R6 Zoustar Stocks Stakes | 1600m | 9:00pm

This is the perfect opportunity for Rising Romance to break through. Consistency in her ratings and two sound runs this preparation give her a comfortable edge here and from barrier 4 she looks set to get an ideal run. Don’t Doubt Mamma did a great job to win against the track pattern LS and looks a clear danger. She’s does seem to relish slow runs races though so just a slight query if she can be as dynamic when the pace is more genuine, which should be the case with Miss Rose De Lago engaged.

R7 Moir Stakes | 1000m | 9:30pm

There’s plenty of early speed here which looks to set it up ideally for those back off the pace. Chautauqua looks clearly the horse to beat, but hard to get too enthusiastic about the price when he’s over 1000m. Extreme Choice is the interesting runner. He has the 2YO performance quality to match it with Chautauqua and should camp just a few lengths off the lead behind the hot speed. If he’s come back well then he’s certainly capable of winning this.

R8 William Hill BM90 | 1200m | 10:00pm

A tricky race to finish the night. Sir Bacchus is the best horse in the race but comes off a below average performance last start and will need a bit of luck in running getting back in the field from an inside draw. Real Time appeals as a longshot with some claims. He’s first up here but did win at Caulfield first up last time in a rating that is very competitive here and the wide draw by this stage of the night could very well be an advantage.
