There’s plenty of lightly raced promising types here. The favourite Showpero will be hard to beat, but Barrier 1 with a stack of pace pressure outside him doesn’t appeal at all. Falcool and Terindah are very competitive with him on ratings, could end up better suited in the run and are significantly better prices.

Race Confidence: Average

Runner Name Rating
4. Showpero $3.80
3. Falcool $5.00
8. Terindah $5.50
6. Biased Witness $10.00

R2 Strathmore Commonwealth Bank Country Cup | 1600m | 7:00pm

Mihany’s last two ratings are good enough to win this. He’s been effective in moderately run races recently and might get a more testing time up front here with Sandhill Warrior engaged, so that will be interesting. Marwood’s figures have been consistent and while not right up to Mihany, he looks set up to have the last shot here as the leaders fatigue.

Race Confidence: Average

Runner Name Rating
1. Mihany $2.70
6. Marwood $4.60
2. Refulgent $8.00

A very even and competitive race with none of these presenting an appealing profile. Tooleybuc Kid may improve sharply on his recent form. Second Bullet is currently less than half the assessed price and looks unders.

R4 LF Sign Group Hcp | 2040| 8:00pm

A difficult race with plenty of chances, but Tidy Prophet has consistent recent ratings that are up to winning this and looks suited stepping up in distance. The forecast rain will suit him well.

It’s hard to find the favourite Golden Spin here anywhere near as short as the market. He’s certainly got the talent to win but faces plenty of competitive. Brockhoff is first up but showed above average talent last prep and his equal career peak came over 1000m at this track on soft ground. Rock N Gold was a winning over this track and distance first up last start in a new peak. A repeat of that puts him right in the finish.

Race Confidence: Average

Runner Name Rating
8. Brockhoff $4.00
5. Golden Spin $4.80
7. Rock N Gold $4.80
6. Runson $10.00
12. Another Diamond $16.00
3. Usain Dane $18.00
2. Gallant Harmony $21.00
9. El Prado Gold $34.00
10. Dalrada $61.00
4. General Jackson $67.00

The favourite Rageese is clearly the best chance, but impossible to find at an odds on quote as reflected in the current market. Being back on the inside from Barrier 2 will be a clear disadvantage at this stage of the night. Master Reset has a competitive rating from his last start third at Caulfield and has the scope to go better with his two best career figures coming at this track in the past.

Race Confidence: Average

Runner Name Rating
3. Rageese $2.60
8. Master Reset $5.00
11. Snake Charmer $6.00
6. Lucky Paddy $12.00
2. Sistine Demon $14.00
1. Scherzoso $16.00
5. Gracious Prospect $41.00
4. Tristrams Sun $101.00

Chautauqua deserves to be top pick, but impossible to like as a betting prospect off a moderate first up run and the prospect of settling back on the inside here, which is almost certain to be a disadvantage by this stage of the night. Must respect Capitalist who carried 60kg against Star Turn and was only beaten 3.2 lengths first up. A wet track may force him to be scratched. Fell Swoop was a pass mark first up and will be suited up and on the speed on a rain affected surface.

Race Confidence: Average

Runner Name Rating
2. Chautauqua $4.00
11. Capitalist $5.00
10. English $9.50
8. Fell Swoop $10.00
9. Holler $11.00
1. Buffering $15.00
3. Lucky Hussler $17.00
4. Under The Louvre $17.00

R8 Yulong Park Hcp | 1200m | 10:00pm

The favourite Sir Bacchus is the best winning chance, but is currently well under the assessed price. Handsome Tycoon has some appeal off a strong rating second placing at Caulfield last start and a top jockey riding.
