The favourite Miss Dubois has a comfortable edge in lead up ratings for this and looks suited over the trip. However she’s likely to be a long way back and I couldn’t possibly get involved backed a moderate horse from that position in the run at such a short price. Two Square comes out of a strong rating race at Geelong last start and raced in the worst part of the track. She also tends to get back but is at least 5 x the price of the favourite. Tough race to bet in.

The favourite Piccadillies was only 1L second LS start with 3.5L back to third in a strong rating Morning Maiden. That rating is a long way clear of the opposition here and the fact the stable started her in a stakes race on debut suggests they have a reasonably high opinion of her. Big jockey booking here of D Oliver. She rightfully looks a dominant odds on favourite.

Soviet Secret is clearly the best horse in this race and she drops significantly in grade here to Maiden level, after being very competitive in stakes races during the Autumn. The price is very skinny and she is likely to be a little way back in the field, but there’s no way I could back against her.

Miss Bendetta comes off a solid rating win over 1000m for her last start and under the care of Darren Weir looks to have plenty of scope to improve. That combined with the prospect of settling forward in a race that looks to lack genuine speed will make her very hard to beat.

This is a very competitive race with a number of winning chances. Powderworks has a great overall record with 4 from 11 and has been strong winning her last two with ratings good enough to win this race. She looks like the typical Darren Weir horse that continues to maintain and improve their form with more racing. Cinnamon Carter has been somewhat of a synthetic track specialist but two of her last three runs at Caulfield and Flemington have been right up to the standard needed to win this. The booking of D Oliver is a significant jockey change. She looks a nice value prospect.

This is another very competitive race with plenty of chances. Lock and Load can mix his form, but comes off a very solid last start rating at Mornington in a race much stronger than this and should cross from the barrier to get a nice trip up on the lead.

A very difficult race to close the program. Money Chaser has good early speed and ratings from two of his last three that would be very hard to beat here. If the track is suiting leaders then his chances improve further.
