AFL Insights – Round 13 2017

North Melbourne V St Kilda

Friday June 16, 7:50pm AEST – Etihad Stadium

Match Odds

St Kilda should be bolstered by the return of Nick Riewoldt. The Saints are 5-3 with the former skipper and 0-3 without him. However, the St Kilda can’t rely on a 327 gamer with a bruised knee. Given they have only scored 54, 50 and 68 points in their last three games (two at Etihad), they have a lot of problems to solve.

North Melbourne, meanwhile, have won four of their last six, including scalps over Adelaide and Melbourne. Even more impressively, they have won their last six in a row against St Kilda. Todd Goldstein should dominate Billy Longer (or Tom Hickey) and give North an ascendancy in the middle, extending that winning record to seven.

Port Adelaide V Brisbane

Saturday June 17, 4:35 pm AEST – Adelaide Oval

Match Odds

We look forward to every Port Adelaide home game this year. They have demolished teams, with wins of 90, 89 and 51 so far. They also beat the Lions at the Gabba by 83 points this year.

Last week’s results, with Port losing by 70 and Brisbane winning by 57, are concerning. However, it also just means the line is smaller than it otherwise would have been. We think Port shake off the Essendon embarrassment and re-enter their name in premiership discussions with a 12+ goal win at home.

Western Bulldogs V Melbourne

Sunday June 18, 3:20pm AEST – Etihad Stadium

Match Odds

This contest has live betting written all over it. Sixth vs eighth, Etihad Stadium and early finals consequences at stake. Both teams will be determined until the final siren and it’s hard to split them on form. Melbourne are coming off consecutive come from behind wins while the struggling Premiers have won their last two matchups against the Demons.

You can make a case for either side but Melbourne’s winning form makes theirs easier, and yet they are significant underdogs. We like Melbourne at the +10.5 and head to head, and will be placing live bets against the team that hits the front, should there be multiple lead changes.
