Speed Map

Golden Goddess led the more fancied stablemate Dream About Me last time when drawn outside it, so no reason to believe that the pole marker won’t lead again today. Mark Purdon on Dream About Me over the short trip will more than likely come to the breeze and these two stablemates should be able to control the race.

Who is going to be brave enough to take them on early? Impossible to see anything not handing up the death seat, maybe the third runner from the stable Piccadilly Princess can throw a spanner in the works. From there it’s impossible to see something other than a Purdon/Rasmussen horse winning.

Major Players

1. Golden Goddess: She was beaten as favourite (second both times) at her first two runs back from a break, but returned to form a fortnight ago when leading throughout to beat her more fancied stablemate Dream About Me. She has good gate speed, unless the team play games, she should lead and be very hard to beat over the short course.

She was actually pulling away from the 10/1 on chance last start late after she did all the work. Unfortunately, you won’t get the odds this time around but she should be in front for a long way.

5. Dream About Me: We saw her on our shores recently (OUR DREAM ABOUT ME when racing here) taking all before her, the Group 1 NSW Oaks and the Group 3 Raith Memorial at Menangle. Last season she took out the Breeders Crown as well and was undefeated in her career until her shock loss to the stablemate last time.

She had the sweet run behind the leader but may have just been a little underdone after doing all the travel across the Tasman. She should be fully fit now and although she will have to work harder than her stablemate Golden Goddess, she is a star and should be better for the run a fortnight ago. She can turn the tables here.

7. Piccadilly Princess: She has an imposing record with eight wins from fourteen starts, including two victories this year over the more fancied stablemate Golden Goddess. Purdon and Rasmussen you would think would have the pick of the drives so she looks to be the third stringer in the event.

If there is a horse that may come to the breeze to assist Dream About Me, she may be the one, but really hard to see her winning with the draw the way it is. She will be one of the only other runners close to single figure odds, although she should be 20/1 plus in my opinion. Place only.
