Get the latest LAY nominations for Saturday 4th March below.

JOHNATHON WALSH (VIC)

Flemington – Race 4 #8 Portman

Walsh Says: “Portman is up in grade again today finding a deep race with well-credentialed runners. Has done everything right to date but Saturday is the ‘acid test’. I am happy to lay at the $2.50 in an even race.”

RAY SWANNIE (VIC)

Flemington – Race 7 #4 Hey Doc

Swannie Says: “Won the CS Hayes stake but had the run of the race. The guineas looks very even race with many chances. Has come up to short in the early market ($3.60) for a group one race and will be a big loser in my book.”

NORM OKE (VIC)

Randwick – Race 5 #1 Chautauqua

Oke Says: “Never won at 1300m and is yet to win on heavy ground. With potential for the heavy Randwick track to worsen on Saturday, I see him as a risk after just an even run last start at Caulfield.”

KEVIN SABER (VIC)

Flemington – Race 3 #1 Madeenaty

Saber Says: “Filly taking on the boys carrying the top weight of 57kg, which has to be a major concern. She has been up for an eternity and I thought her recent jump out was only average. Rock bottom at close to even money despite being a winner up the straight.”

CURLY SEAL (SA)

Morphettville – Race 2 #1 Silvera

Seal Says: “Brings strong Melbourne form behind Hey Doc in the CS Hayes stakes but he has a habit of starting poorly and the drop back in class suggests he might have an issue. 1600m could suit but risking at odds on.”

PETER McCORMACK (WA)

Ascot – Race 6 #7 Royal Star

McCormack Says: “Unbeaten Oaks bound filly who was scratched at the barrier as a $1.12 favourite last start. Has since completed two barrier trials but is six weeks between runs going from 1400 to 1800m. She also rises from class 1 to Listed company, add to this a wide barrier and with no Pike, I think she is no value at flip of the coin odds.”

STEVE WALTERS (TAS)

Eagle Farm – Race 2 #7 Manaya

Walters Says: “Will get to the back on a track that is looking likely to suit leaders. Is in good company here and she looks a good trading prospect (LAY-TO-BACK) as it will jump short and I am convinced will trade out to good odds in the run!”

BARRY COOK (NSW)

Randwick – Race 3 #1 Scarlett Reign

Cook Says: “Narrowly beaten by the smart Tactical Advantage when carrying 62kg at Rosehill. Despite being, a tough filly there looks to be too much speed in this event to suit her pattern. She could be a bit one-dimensional.”

DAVID DWYER (NSW)

Randwick – Race 2 #6 Menari

Dwyer Says: “No doubting his quality after an eye catcher behind the smart Pariah last start. Was a dominant winner at the trials recently but has to be a query here with 35 days between runs against a quality field with Grand Final day still a few weeks away.”
