KEVIN SABER (VIC)

Flemington– Race 6 #1 De Little Engine

Saber Says: “Impressive last start but looking at the field he beat it wasn’t much. Now stretches out to a distance were he’s failed on multiple occasions. Weight can stop a train.”

JONATHAN WALSH (VIC)

Flemington– Race 1 #2 Grandioso

Walsh Says: “Significant rise in class and maps well back in the field. Others in the race could show plenty of improvement, so happy to put in at 6/4 ($2.50) in the old language.”

NORM OKE (VIC)

Flemington– Race 6 #1 De Little Engine

Oke Says: “Had its first win in over 18 months last start when I took it a fortnight ago. I can’t see it winning two in a row. He’s up 4kg on his last start and now steps out to two miles where weights tend to have more impact of the result. Four starts for zero wins at 3200m and despite running third in this race with a similar weight last year I’m against him at rock bottom odds. If you’re on course Saturday and like him, come and back him!”

RAY SWANNIE (VIC)

Flemington– Race 2 #5 Divine Quality (Place)

Swannie Says: “Had the perfect run last start and won’t get same run on Saturday. Drawn wide, she will get back and have to make her run in the worst ground. This looks a better race and expect Moonlites Choice to bounce back. Up slightly in weight with the new jockey, can miss the place.”

CURLY SEAL (SA)

Morphettville – Race 1 #18 So You Too

Seal Says: “Racing well but will get back in the big field and need luck or swing very wide to finish off strongest. Any downgrade from Good surface adds to the big task ahead. Can’t have it at $2.25.”

Steve Walters (TAS)

Morphettville – Race 1 #18 So You Too

Walters Says: “Expecting him to settle well back and in this large field may have trouble getting over the top of them.”

BARRY COOK (NSW)

Rosehill – Race 2 #2 Gretna

Cook Says: “Looks to be some pressure in this race early on and from barrier one she’s likely to be buried the fence. With rain around that might not be the place to be so keen to lay her at $3.20.”

PETER McCORMACK (WA)

Ascot Race 1 #2 Salubrious

McCormack Says: “Impressive trial winner but is a maiden 2yo gelding under $3 which qualifies it as a lay. Trainer is going ordinary, yet to train a city winner this season with only three placegetters from 20 starters.”

DAVID DWYER (NSW)

Rosehill Race 3 #1 New Universe

Dwyer Says: “Booming win last start, but being a backmarker it’s hard to entertain $2.40 in the early market with the added negative of dropping back in distance and rising in weight. Up against a good field on a wet track, has to be layed.”
