Lay Nominations, Saturday 20th January 2018

Every week at Betfair, On Course Bookmakers from across the country will be nominating their LAY of the week.

Get the latest LAY nominations for Saturday 20th January below.

Peter McCormack (WA)

Ascot Race 5 #9 Western Temple

McCormack Says: “Opened short in the market for a horse that is one from 13 first up over a distance short of its best. I think the corporates have over rated the cerise and white (William Pike) factor here.”

Ray Swannie (VIC)

Flemington Race 1 #8 Willi Willi

Swannie Says: “Well beaten last start in a BM78 over 1400m now in rises in grade (84) and up to 1800m. Also back, always needs luck, and its better form on rain-affected ground. Makes it a risk at the price.”

Kevin Saber (VIC)

Cranbourne (Friday) Race 4 #7 Bel Seleva

Saber Says: “Very short (obviously) $1.55. Thought just OK at Yarra Valley. Meets ordinary lot here but prepared to risk from outside barrier over the short trip. Jockey (Rhys Mcleod) strike rate 9%, overall 6% Cranbourne. Mostly rides winners in much longer races. Good risk!”

Jonathan Walsh  (VIC)

Flemington Race 8 #2 Amber Sky

Walsh Says: “First up for nearly a year and was ordinary in his last prep in Hong Kong. Has come up right in the market is race that could test, add age (8yo) and Flemington Straight into a mix and the $4.40 quote looks short for mine.”

David Dwyer (NSW)

Randwick Race 5 #6 Memes

Dwyer Says: “Had a fantastic preparation winning six races although finds herself up against some tough sprinters over 1000m. Drawn Gate 6 and getting little weight relief means I am happy to take her on.”

Barry Cook (NSW)

 Randwick Race 4 #4 Cellarman

Cook Says: “Has been in work in what feels like an eternity. Will be buried midfield on the inside and needs plenty to go right to win. Priced on the Bowman / Waller combination it seems. $3.00 is under the odds.”

Steve Walters (TAS)

Ascot Race 2 #4 Jackpot Prince

Walters Says: “Second up at 2100m which looks to be a big ask! Also appeals as a good trade, with the possibility to lay prior to race at reasonably short odds and trade at a premium during the run!”

Norm Oke (VIC)

Flemington Race 1 #8 Willi Willi

Oke Says: “Rising from 1400m to 1800m, racing that distance for the first time. He looks a chance but this race has plenty of depth with several winning chances. Currently around $3.00 – $3.20 so more than happy to lay it around that mark.”

Curly Seal (SA)

Morphettville Race 5 #6 Miss Wahoo

Seal Says: “Strong Maiden winner but will get back and meets much stronger company, risking at 2.20.”
