Lay Nominations: Saturday 18th February 2017

Every week at Betfair, On Course Bookmakers from across the country will be nominating their LAY of the week.

Get the latest LAY nominations for Saturday 18th February below.

JOHNATHON WALSH (VIC)

Flemington – Race 1 #2 Pure Pride

Walsh Says: “Looks a risk first up with a big weight and looks set to map well back in running. Distance and strike rate are both negatives and although she has class I can’t get her anywhere near the early market price of $3.50. Prefer her further into her preparation.”

RAY SWANNIE (VIC)

Flemington – Race 2 #3 Duke Of Brunswick

Swannie Says: “Not convinced he’s a genuine 1400m horse and is up 2kg on his last run drawn an outside barrier. This looks a race with a handful of chances and I am more than happy to lay him close to evens.”

NORM OKE (VIC)

Flemington – Race 2 #3 Duke Of Brunswick

Oke Says: “Has failed at this track and distance previously when $4.20 out to $4.80. This looks no easier and drawing the widest gate in a small field there is some chance he will be posted wide. Expecting a big drift on the day.”

KEVIN SABER (VIC)

Rosehill – Race 5 #5 She Will Reign

Saber Says: “Won a Kembla maiden and a restricted Inglis race, which raises some questions here. Veranilo and Khan look like the real deal so keen to lay this filly at $1.70.”

CURLY SEAL (SA)

Morphettville Race 1 #1 Nasdex

Seal Says: “A last start winner at Terang that has come up $2.60 in a much tougher city class race. Will be up and on the speed for Dom Tourneur but will be very vulnerable late with Stokes and Clarken having a strong hand in the race.”

PETER McCORMACK (WA)

Ascot Race 4 #3 Seeker

McCormack Says: “Backing up after smashing the clock down the straight 1000m course at Pinjarra last week. A get back horse with a 3kg claiming apprentice so I’m inclined to risk it around the bend at Ascot”

STEVE WALTERS (TAS)

Flemington – Race 7 #6 Crocodile Rock

Walters Says: “Up in class and has an awkward barrier which could see him caught up in traffic. Not sure a drop back in distance will suit despite racing at Flemington.”

BARRY COOK (NSW)

Rosehill – Race 1 #1 Scarlet Rain

Cook Says: “This filly is second up from a long spell. She is up in weight, up in class and in my opinion will struggle to match motors with the boys. There’s a chance she will not beat a runner home. Keen to lay at any price!”

DAVID DWYER (NSW)

Rosehill – Race 3 #1 Strawberry Boy

Dwyer Says: “An 8YO who hasn’t won in eight starts up against some classy performers. Despite getting in with 58kg after a claim, he looks a massive risk at $3.20 following a soft run behind Religify where he couldn’t hold on for second.”
