Lay Nominations, Saturday 17th February 2018

Every week at Betfair, On Course Bookmakers from across the country will be nominating their LAY of the week.

Get the latest LAY nominations for Saturday 17th February below.

Ray Swannie (VIC)

Swannie Says:

Kevin Saber (VIC)

Flemington R9 #16 Manolo Blahniq

Saber Says: “Great win last time at Caulfield where fast pace suited. Up from BM84 to open class here and poorly weighted again.Meets Glenrowan Prince 5 kg worse. Barrier 13 no help from this tricky start.”

Jonathan Walsh  (VIC)

Flemington Race 5 #13 Handsome Thief

Walsh Says: “He’s having his first look at the Flemington Straight and rises in class. The draw is also awkward placing him back in the field in traffic if rail side and making him work if grandstand side. Happy to take on as favourite on Saturday.

David Dwyer (NSW)

Randwick Race 1 #1 Mates Story

Dwyer Says: “Very impressive winner last start in the same grade and meets a weaker field. However up 3kgs and goes from a wide draw to inside where it could find some pressure and goes to 1800m for the first time. At $1.90 seems a good risk.”

Barry Cook (NSW)

Newcastle Race 2 #1 Aacee Tianu

Cook Says: “Think this horse will start short with a key scratching. Appears to have limited talent so we’re keen to open the bag.”

Norm Oke (VIC)

Flemington Race 6 #1 Aloisia

Oke Says: “She’s first up here in the Vanity, as are many of them. Her fresh record is not spectacular and there appears to be lots of winning chances in this race. At the short quote from barrier 11, I have to lay her.”

Peter McCormack (WA)

Ascot Race 8 #3 Western Temple

McCormack Says: “Pike rode this one a treat last start to miss by a lip. Brodie Kirby a 3kg claiming apprentice takes over and although I’m sure he will be the next gun apprentice of WA racing he is currently 1 from 35 in the city. Drawn wide for a Peters horse (7) it looks to be a test for both horse and rider and is very cramped in the market.”

Curly Seal (SA)

Morphettville Race 2 #9 Double Denman

Seal Says: “Third at only start, beaten over 2 lengths, will need to improve, and looks too short at $2.00.”
