International Rugby Union: Saturday June 23

New Zealand v France

Saturday 23rd June, 5:35pm AEST – Forsyth Barr Stadium, Dunedin

The All Blacks wrapped up the series against the touring France in Wellington last week but were far from impressive in downing a 14-man Les Bleus 26-13. The French have put together three solid halves this series, leading the ABs at halftime in Auckland before being blown out before a gritty effort when undermanned in Wellington. New Zealand have been a step off and won’t get any favours from playing at Forsyth Barr Stadium in Dunedin, a ground where the All Blacks have won five from five but have won just one clash by more than 10 points. France have kept the margin to less than 20 in six of the last eight Tests and only four of their last 24 road Tests have been losses of more than 23 points. The plus is a confident play.

Betting Strategy

 BACK – France +24.5

Australia v Ireland

Saturday 23rd June, 8pm AEST – Allianz Stadium, Sydney

The Sydney Football Stadium hosts the series decider between the Wallabies and Ireland. It has been a tight series with both games decided by single digit margins. The Wallabies have been less than impressive at the SFS in recent years though, losing the last two Tests there to Scotland and England. Ireland have won six of their last seven Tests on the road and have done it on the back of outstanding first half defence, keeping opponents to eight or fewer in seven of their last eight Tests. Ireland have a toughness lacking in the Wallabies and look value.

Betting Strategy

 BACK – Ireland -2.5

South Africa v England

Sunday 24th June, 1.05am AEST – Newlands Stadium, Cape Town

South Africa are looking at a clean sweep of rivals England and will be well on song after two strong Test wins. We are off to Newlands, which has been a happy hunting ground for the Springboks with 12 wins in the last 16 Tests and two of those losses coming against the almighty All Blacks. England’s defence has been leaky this series and they have now lost four straight Tests outside England. With the series over, the Springboks project to open England right up.

Betting Strategy

 BACK – South Africa -4.5
