Tough maiden kicks off todays meeting. Runners with the exposed form don’t really jump huge off the page at you so I have leant the way of debutant PARTHENOPE who has trialed well leading into this run. Its a low confidence play and he doesn’t represent huge value so prefer to have no bet in this race.

Don’t have a lot between the runners SAINT EMILION & OCEAN DIVA who are both runners dropping down in grade here. They both map to get good runs from low barriers. Not a hugely confident race though so will be preferring to leave this race alone but those 2 do look the stand outs.

Again a tricky race and its a no bet race. The maiden at this level looks tricky enough here today as its a very open looking race. KEN’KER probably needs to find some improvement from his last start to be able to win here, but he looks to get every chance from a good race map. But not betting into a race like this.

He comes into this race at a short price, but CITY GOLD READY looks really well placed in this to get a win. He is 3rd up in Australia now, his only career win so far came in NZ when he was 3rd up into a prep so fitness could be the key. The rise in trip is going to be another key as he has built up into this prep and the blinkers go on for this. Ideal set up should give him every chance.

Tough betting race here again. Can make a strong case for multiple runners here so will be happy to leave it alone from a betting perspective. PUERTO RICO is the on top selection, he has a solid 3rd up record and showed reasonable improvement in his last start, but it is with little confidence so staying out and having no bet.

It is a similar story to the last race here with it being a very tricky looking race and the market does reflect that. Wont be betting into this race, but went with FLOODGATES as the on top selection. He resumes today and should find this a slight drop in grade from the maidens he contested in his last prep, but not enough confidence to bet.

I am willing to play around the short price favourite here in DASHING RUPERT. He was a winner on debut at this track last start a few weeks ago. Did win that race as a short price favourite, but while he won well enough, I would say that it wasn’t overly scintillating on the clock. He has to step up in grade for this now and it will be a solid test for him in my opinion. Certainly could win but cant take the short odds about him here.
BACK: 2. Cable Express (WIN & PLACE) for 1 unit (Rated at $5.00)
CABLE EXPRESS looks worth a value bet here in this race. Gets the soft race map from a low barrier and should settle in a handy position in run. He is resuming here today, did win 1st up last prep but his recent trial wasn’t overly encouraging. Banking on him finding his best form here fresh, but there is enough value to have an interest to find out.

Thought SUSPECT has shown good improvement from his 1st up to 2nd up runs and now looks set to peak 3rd up here. His only career win has come 3rd up into a prep but the numbers he has been able to run so far in his career would put him in a very strong position to win a race of this level. He drops to a slightly easier level today and it looks an ideal race for him to be able to find his best form again.
