5. Starz Barwon

Summary

Backing #11 WROTE TO ARATAKI – Unraced Kiwi filly purchased off a NZ Trial when 3rd on Cambridge Synthetic.

Very competitive in two turf jump-outs at Terang and Camperdown, she’s a good beginner, settled on-speed in both and quickened up at the line.

She finds a suitable race on debut and thought she was the best of the unraced and drawn to settle in a forward position, should get every chance.

Betting Strategy

BACK (WIN) – Wrote To Arataki for 2 units

THE EAGLE’S WATCH LIST

Race 5 | #4 Pinstriped

3YO gelding trained by Enver Jusufovic. Two jump-outs.

Cranbourne – 17/01 – 800m – Jumped well rode the speed on a tight rein defeating two stakes class mares in 2nd & 3rd.

Cranbourne – 24/01 – 850m – Jumped well, took a sit behind the speed and ridden out to chase runaway leader, narrowly defeated in 2nd, big gap to 3rd in fastest of 18 heats held on the morning.

Serious talent! Debut win rated highly on a heavy track and he has enormous upside. This is an ideal race to kick off on a winning note.

Race 7 | #6 Sinawann

5YO Horse trained by A & S Freedman. Two jump-outs.

Werribee – 10/01 – 800m – Jumped ok, restrained to the rear of the field, stayed there not asked to do much fishing 7/8.

Mornington – 19/01 – 900m – Flopped out of the gates in small field, asked to chase leader in straight and did a good job in 2nd.

Exciting horse with a beautiful action, jump-outs have been consistent with what he’s shown on each occasion since arriving in Australia. Inside draw is tricky.

Race 8 | #11 Holt

4YO gelding trained by Enver Jusufovic. Two jump-outs.

Cranbourne – 10/01 – 800m – Jumped fast and allowed ENTHAAR to lead up and held together throughout in 3nd. Fastest heat of the morning.

Cranbourne – 17/01 – 800m – Began quickly from wide gate and sat OSL and held that spot to the line. Another fast heat and competitive amongst quality gallopers.

Resuming in a BM70 and jump-outs returning suggest he’s up to the standard.
