LAY: #3 Jungle Prince (WIN)

Looked sluggish when unplaced at odds on last start. Surprised its even money and happy to be against anything under $2.50.

WIN #2 Sharp Dazzler (WIN)

Back in trip, but did sit off a good tempo 2 runs back this track and trip and powered over them late. Gets a very similar set up here, and expect we get the same result.

RACE 1 | KEY RUNNERS

2. APPELLANT
1. ENTERPRISE DEFENCE
5. WOWZINO
3. CANT RECALL ONE

Betting Strategy

No bet.

Not convinced #2 APPELLANT should be so short but the rest might be just not much good.

RACE 2 | KEY RUNNERS

2. HES FOR THE GIRLS
4. TEXAS FIREBALL
5. NEW JOY
3. JUNGLE PRINCE

Betting Strategy

LAY: #3 Jungle Prince (WIN)

Looked sluggish when unplaced at odds on last start. Surprised its even money and happy to be against anything under $2.50.

RACE 3 | KEY RUNNERS

2. HOLD ON HONEY
1. MISHANI SNIPER
7. CHARGE ON
3. MAXIMUM OUTPUT

Betting Strategy

No bet.

No clear opinion.

RACE 4 | KEY RUNNERS

6. OAKFIELD WALLABY
2. AINT HE GRAND
8. DISPUTED RIVER
4. CLYDE

Betting Strategy

BACK: #6 Oakfield Wallaby (WIN)

Leaning into the Sydney form #SF here. The local stayers are genuine carousel horses, just going around and around the same speed, and plenty of chinks in them.

RACE 5 | KEY RUNNERS

7. AFRICAN DAISY
11. NAVAL TRADER
9. HELLAADANCER
5. CENTRESTONE

Betting Strategy

Not much between the top 4 selections here, no clear opinion.

RACE 6 | KEY RUNNERS

2. QUOTHQUAN
1. QUARANTINE DREAM
10. PETERSHAM
4. TRANSATLANTIC

Betting Strategy

Lay #4 Transatlantic (WIN)

Would need to improve 3L off last prep to win here, and surprised he’s so short. Obviously in the right stable to improve, but the map is not clear cut and there are 4 rivals that can win with the right runs.

RACE 7 | KEY RUNNERS

20 DEFERENETIAL
5. TREPORTI
8. EVOCATOR
10. STARRY EYES

Betting Strategy

LAY #9 Orlabent (WIN)

Heavy pot on this horses ability to run a strong enough 1200m to win here. Will lay it sub $4, and go for the double scoop with something on the 4 mentioned above.

RACE 8 | SELECTIONS

7. OUR MAGNUS
12. OUTLAWED
5. MILLANE
13.PRINCESS TENKO

Betting Strategy

I have had something each way #7 OUR MAGNUS on a 1×2 basis. Has ran really well this track & trip fresh up previously, like the map and the gear change. He’s put up some good figures at 1200 in tougher grade, so happy to swing at the price.

RACE 9 | SELECTIONS

2. SHARP DAZZLER
5. MEAT PIE ARTIE
11. GRAND METEOR
6. THREE GONGS

Betting Strategy

WIN #2 Sharp Dazzler (WIN)

Back in trip, but did sit off a good tempo 2 runs back this track and trip and powered over them late. Gets a very similar set up here, and expect we get the same result.

RACE 10 | SELECTIONS

9. OCEAN ZAR
11. RUSSIAN MYSTIC
8. KENETIC
14. LADY LE DA

Betting Strategy

BACK: #9 Ocean Zar (WIN)

She didn’t do much last start, but she was visually impressive and the clock has backed that up. Well placed here in BM68 grade, looks the winner again and suspect she can win through these lower grades this preparation.

EAGLE FARM TIPS

SUMMARY

Like Doomben, which is located on the other side of Nudgee Road, Eagle Farm Racecourse is owned and run by the Brisbane Racing Club (BRC). The Heritage-listed venue has been hosting race meetings since its establishment in 1863. Together with Doomben, Eagle Farm takes centre stage during the Queensland Winter Carnival, which is headlined by the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) each June. Stradbroke season is Queensland’s time to shine, and Betfair’s form analysts bring you the inside track with their Eagle Farm tips throughout the carnival. The 1400m track record at Eagle Farm was established by Toledo, who won the 1998 Stradbroke Handicap in a time of 1:20.2.

KEY EVENTS

The Stradbroke Handicap is Queensland’s most famous race, dating all the way back to 1890.

The race is named after Lord Stradbroke, whose relative Henry John Rous was the founder of racing’s weight-for-age scale. Interstate raiders have dominated the race in recent years, with Tofane (2021), Trekking (2019) and Santa Ana Lane (2018) adding their names to the roll call of Stradbroke champions. As well as the $1.5 million Stradbroke Handicap, Eagle Farm hosts four more Group 1s during the winter carnival: the Queensland Derby, Queensland Oaks, J.J. Atkins and the Tatts Tiara. For premium Eagle Farm tips on each meeting, the Betfair Hub is the place to go.

TRACK PROFILE

Due to its sand profile, Eagle Farm is one of the country’s fastest drying racetracks and can comfortably cope with large amounts of rainfall in the lead-up to race meetings. In fine weather the track can be very firm underfoot, with some horses struggling to let down on the surface.

The turf track is 28m wide, with a circumference of 2,027m. The long home straight of 434m gives horses a chance to run down the leaders, so jockeys riding for luck can often be seen charging home from the back of the pack. Whether it’s on-pace runners or late swoopers, Betfair’s tipsters study the form and bring you their Eagle Farm best bets today.

HISTORY

Racing at Eagle Farm was conducted by the Queensland Turf Club from 1863 until 2009, when it merged with the neighbouring Brisbane Turf Club to form the BRC. The Tattersalls Racing Club shares Eagle Farm with the BRC and holds one feature meeting each year in June as part of the winter carnival. The curtain came down on one of the greatest racing careers of all time at Eagle Farm in 1961, when Tulloch – trained by TJ Smith – won both the PJ O’Shea Stakes (now known as The Q22) and the Brisbane Cup. As part of the $1.2 billion development upgrade to the facilities at Eagle Farm and Doomben racecourses, a stabling precinct was constructed in the centre of the course which currently houses up to 600 horses. Eagle Farm trainers include Queensland’s leading trainer, Tony Gollan.
