BBL07: Game 24 – Brisbane Heat v Hobart Hurricanes

Brisbane Heat v Hobart Hurricanes

Wednesday January 10 – 7:40pm ADST

Fresh from three consecutive victories for the first time since BBL01, the Hobart Hurricanes will look to make it four when they travel north to face the Brisbane Heat at the Gabba on Wednesday.

Brisbane Heat

In their last match the Heat consigned the Perth Scorchers to their first defeat of the tournament after Brisbane posted a colossal 6/191 amid some clean hitting from usual suspects Chris Lynn (39 off 20 balls), Joe Burns (36 off 26 balls) and Ben Cutting (46 off 20 balls). The Scorchers were never really in the hunt as youngster Brendan Doggett claimed 5/35 off four overs, while fellow seamer Mark Steketee provided crucial support with 3/28 off his four overs. With a couple of in-form batting line-ups and a pair of questionable bowling attacks, I’m willing to wager that we’ll see plenty of big hits in this clash.

Hobart Hurricanes

The Hurricanes continued their push for a top four spot by outlasting the Sydney Sixers at home on Monday. Winning the toss and electing to bat first, opener Darcy Short continued his phenomenal form with 42 off 36 balls, while ‘keeper Matthew Wade chipped in with 41 off 30 balls, although a middle-order malaise stopped Hobart from posting another total in excess of 180, this time having to settle for 6/170. Some tight bowling from spin duo Cameron Boyce (0/22 off four overs) and Clive Rose (1/22 off three overs) put the Hurricanes in the box seat, however they have to survive a late flurry from the Sixers before eventually closing out a tense five-run win.

Key Stats

Betting Strategy

BACK Over 9.5 sixes at 1.70 or bigger for 2 units.
