BBL07: Game 10 – Melbourne Renegades v Perth Scorchers

Melbourne Renegades v Perth Scorchers

Friday December 29 — 7:10pm AEST

It’s the clash of two unbeaten sides when the Melbourne Renegades face off against the Perth Scorchers at Docklands Stadium on Friday night.

Melbourne Renegades

The Renegades made it two from two by sweeping aside the Brisbane Heat by seven wickets last Saturday. A magnificent spell from young all-rounder Jack Wildermuth (3/16 off four overs) along with two wickets apiece to veterans Dwayne Bravo and Brad Hogg helped the Renegades restrict the power-packed Heat batting line-up to just 8/132 from their 20 overs. The chase got off to a nervous start with Melbourne losing both openers in single figures as they slumped to 2/29, however a pair of half-centuries to seasoned middle-order batsmen Cameron White (51 off 43 balls) and Tom Cooper (52 not out off 44 balls) saw the Renegades home comfortably.

Perth Scorchers

Meanwhile the Scorchers again lent heavily on their high-quality bowling attack after they could only scramble to 6/142 batting first against the Melbourne Stars off the back of a fighting 58 off 53 balls from the talented Hilton Cartwright and some late hitting from fellow Australian aspirant Ashton Agar (33 not out off 21 balls). Perth have made a habit of defending low totals and they continued on their merry way here thanks to another outstanding contribution from Andrew Tye (5/23 off four overs), restricting the Stars to 8/129 in reply. Although both sides bat relatively deep I’d be looking to side with both bowling attacks in this highly anticipated match-up.
