AUSTRALIAN OPEN 2022 – PLAYERS TO WATCH: MEN

Aus Open Players To Watch MEN HUB

The first Grand Slam of 2022 is almost here! Who are the players to look out for on the men’s side of the draw?

Here’s our top five players to watch for the Australian Open, according to Betfair’s tennis analyst Ace Previews.

Hot on the heels of Djokovic and Medvedev,   having shown his ability to beat both in key matches (ATP Finals). Next step is to do it over best of 5. Upside in his price, especially if he snatches the 2 seed if Novak doesn’t play.

WITHDRAWN

One of the great unknowns at the moment, having suffered a wrist injury last year. Given the amount of work he puts on the ball off both wings, it is difficult to see him returning without significant rust. Pulled out of the December exhibition swing. Monitor.

One of the players that would benefit the most were Djokovic, or another Top 8 player, were to skip the tournament. A move from the 9th seed to the 8th seed would allow him to avoid those ranked above him until the quarter finals. Keep an eye on withdrawals.

Made the 4th round of AO 2020 (lost in 5 to Karatsev) and will have gained a lot of experience from his US Open semi final appearance a couple of months ago. One to consider in the back-to-lay category for mine.

There are a number of unknowns around Tsitsipas, as he pulled out of the ATP Finals and ended up having surgery on a nagging elbow issue. Much like Thiem, I’d be more inclined to sit out of his current price, or potentially lay if he comes into the tournament with little to no time on court.

BETTING STRATEGY:
