SPEED MAP RACING TIPS

El Patroness, Chance Reward & Hinged likely to set the pace up front here. Charity Spirit, Gin Martini, Hope In Your Heart, Commando Drift, Youthfull, Hardly Sweet, Lekvarte & Honeycreeper will look to be in the front half of the field. The rest get back.

AUSTRALIAN OAKS | KEY RUNNERS + RACING TIPS

1. Hinged – Won the G1 Surround Stakes before a strong 3rd in the Coolmore Classic, then was a good 2nd in the Vinery last start. Handles the wet. Rates well.

2. Gypsy Goddess – Comes into this 3rd up. Charged home for 3rd in the Vinery last start in what was a very strong oaks trial. Had won 5 from 5 before that.

3. Biscayne Bay – Talented fully who ran 3rd in the Oaks in the Spring. Comes into this 2nd up off a mile run first up. Unconventional prep, but we are used to that with the Maher stable. Rough chance.

4. Honeycreeper – Absolutely bolted in to win the Adrian Knox last week. Take that on face value and she’s in with a big chance with Bowman aboard again.

5. Le Villi – Ran 6th beaten 2.4L in the NZ Oaks. That form usually measures up here. Wet track unknown.

6. El Patroness – Multiple Group placed staying filly with ability. Failed last start. Can figure.

9. Pink Ivory – Very well-bred filly trained by John Sargent who has trained numerous Oaks winners. Is by Redwood (who has sired some Group winning stayers including Platinum Invador, Rising Red and Tokorangi) out of Lotteria who was a multiple G1 winning mare that also ran 2nd in a Cox Plate. She won at Gosford over 1600m at her second start running +11.6 for the last 1200m. Ran the quickest last 400m and 200m of the day. 2nd at Newcastle running +8.8m the last 1000m then bolted in by 4.5L at Newcastle running +14.5 the last 1200m. Ran a good 5th in the Vinery and Mcdonald a big positive rider change here.

SUMMARY

Will be a tough slog over the 2400m on the heavy 10 for these 3yo fillies. The ability to stay and handle the bog the keys to this race.
